Recently, Congresswoman Mary Miller (IL-15) introduced the Yaeli Martinez Child Protection Act to protect parents from being punished by state child-welfare systems for affirming their child’s biological sex or shielding them from irreversible medical procedures.

I realize Congresswoman Miller has good intentions in sponsoring this bill, but it side-steps a bigger problem that no politician is willing to grapple with in today’s moral climate. The problem is not with cold-hearted state bureaucrats. In fact, we might need a lot more of them if we were to solve the problem that irks me. I am talking about the problem of parents, mostly moms, grooming their children to act and dress like the opposite sex.

At issue is not parental rights. It is the issue of what constitutes child abuse. It was not long ago that a parent who sent their boy to school wearing girl’s regalia would get a stern warning from protective services. If they continued, they might lose custody.  That made good sense then and now.

Part of the problem is the sheer number of screwed up women (and men to a lesser degree) that embrace gender-bending ideology. Society sends the message that if you don’t reinforce little Johnny’s proclivity to play with dolls, you are being insensitive to his feelings. Johnny acting like a girl may be thought to be less of a problem than if he tortured pets or started fires, but I would discourage the former as I would the latter. In fact, I would take little Johnny hunting, fishing and camping every weekend if that is what it took to steer him away from feminine influences.

What Congresswoman Miller has done with her legislation is circle the wagons. If you are outside the circle, there is nothing that can be done to save you. We are just not going to let our own kids get scalped. This is a pragmatic tactic given the overwhelming odds of changing society’s permissive culture, but it is not wholly satisfying seeing as we did not have this problem a generation ago.
