Caught! Techs contradict New Jersey governor’s claim that 6,600 illegal voter registrations were a mere ‘software error’

So, that thing that never happens, happened again, in New Jersey, about 400 times in the last election.

It turns out 6,600 noncitizens were registered to vote in its election, apparently through its motor voter registration program for drivers’ licenses, according to the governor’s office. The Department of Homeland Security says that actually, it’s more than 35,000. 

But Gov. Mikie Sherrill, clucked her outrage at the 6,600, blaming a ‘serious software error'” for the problem yesterday. 

TRENTON, New Jersey — More than 6,000 non-citizens were accidentally added to New Jersey’s voter rolls due to a software error at the state Motor Vehicles Commission, Gov. Mikie Sherrill announced Tuesday, with “fewer than 400” of them casting ballots in various elections since 2023.

The stunning announcement comes amid a push by Republican President Donald Trump’s administration to crack down on non-citizen voting, which the president claims — frequently without factual basis — aids Democrats in elections. Earlier this month, the Department of Homeland Security alleged that New Jersey had more than 35,000 non-citizens on its voting rolls.

Those bad software companies! They’re so technical, so incompetent, so hard to understand, right?

But hold on, the software company being blamed for the errant voter registrations, the same way IRS functionary Lois Lerner once blamed “the Cincinnati office” for spying on conservative taxpayers, wasn’t taking that lying down.

Which sounds like some convenient scapegoating, given that the Department of Justice under one of President Trump’s sharpest tools in the drawer, Deputy Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon, is investigating the 400 illegally cast ballots and probably more. She should find a lot of stuff there, so like Lois Lerner again, Sherill sought to get her version of events out first as a sort of ‘customer service error’ the way Lois did, before any of this got public.

Sherill, of course, continued on her clucking outrage even as she blamed her predecessor too, and now that the last election is over, says she will be sure remove the illegal voters from the rolls.

Which is a little disingenuous. Obviously, Sherrill got what she wanted out of that last governor’s election, winning by a razor-thin margin, so what’s pitching a few thousand over the side? But she hastened to note in the Politico report that she was against prosecuting these non-citizens for casting a ballot in the last election, not wanting anyone to look to closely at the matter.

It might, after all, reveal that someone else cast the ballot for the the illegally registered illegals, or coerced the illegals to cast the votes, someone, perhaps, who’s … Democrat.

Now the software company laid out the simple reality that all they did was transmit the information as per their contract. The process of verifying the ballots was the job of the New Jersey Department of State, Division of Elections, which waved them through.

The personnel story here is interesting.

Sherrill was elected alongside Dale Caldwell, her lieutenant governor, who as part of his privilege of office, gets to oversee one state executive branch office. By the wildest of coincidences, he picked the job of secretary of state, which oversees elections as his choice, despite his background as an education bureaucrat.

Here is another thing: It’s not the first time he’s been accused of rigging elections. 

According to his Wikipedia page:

Caldwell became the first Black president and CEO of the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Eastern Section in 2006. The election was challenged by the losing candidate, Gerard E. Cuva, a white tennis instructor from Albany, who filed a lawsuit contending that the vote counting was improperly influenced. The lawsuit was ultimately overturned.^[13]

… which certainly doesn’t place him above suspicion in the handling of New Jersey’s voter rolls, refusing to cooperate with the Department of Justice, even if he was not in office when the state was waving the illegal voter registrations through.

He did have compliance problems of his own in the educational bureaucracies he ran, according to a 2025 report that ran in the New Jersey Globe:

Dale Caldwell, the Democratic nominee for lieutenant governor, possesses a long and distinct résumé: Centenary University president, pastor, school board member, tennis community leader, and more.

A less eye-catching role of his was the presidency of the Educational Services Commission of New Jersey, a little-known but wide-reaching procurement cooperative that secures contracts for more than 700 school districts and local governments throughout the state.

Caldwell served as a top official at the commission for more than two decades, during which the agency transformed. The commission started as a Middlesex County-based co-op that helped local schools secure contracts on services ranging from utilities to health insurance. By 2016, the commission had partnered with hundreds of districts across the state’s 21 counties, even changing its name to reflect its new statewide mission.

Last year, Caldwell resigned from the commission, as well as his longtime role on the New Brunswick Board of Education, to devote more time to his work at Centenary.

But last July, shortly after Caldwell departed, the Office of the State Comptroller published an audit that found the commission improperly procured contracts, amassed an excessive surplus of taxpayer money, and failed to consider alternative health insurance providers.

“The routine lack of compliance with procurement laws and sound financial controls is a red flag because it raises the risk of waste,” acting State Comptroller Kevin Walsh said at the time.

So he has compliance problems in addition to rigging problems and he’s the guy in charge of counting votes in New Jersey’s elections.

Something tells me this guy isn’t simon-pure in his election integrity duties. And now the news is slipping out that his office let the illegals and other noncitizens register to vote and some actually voted, either from Democrat operatives who filled out their ballots, or by willfully voting in U.S. elections in naked violation of the law.

Something stinks here, and Sherrill’s claims to being right onboard for clean elections suggests a much deeper and dirtier plot going on to illegally protect Democrats from ever being cast out of office.
