An “informational” pamphlet from the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture covering “whiteness” and “white culture” is making the rounds on social media—but it’s ironic because though it was obviously intended to be a slight against white people, it’s actually an incredible compliment.

Being white means taking care of you and yours. You’re “self-reliant,” not a parasitic loafer on welfare, the grasshopper eating by the work of the ant.
Part of the white experience means a functional family, with two parents in the home, a sense of “independence” fostered amongst the children, and traditional roles for both mom and dad.
If you’re white, you’re “rational” and thoughtful. Instead of making emotional decisions, you strive to be “objective” and you place an “emphasis” on the “scientific method” when you interact with the world.
If you’re a white person reflecting on the past, you tend to focus on the history that actually built the West—a place everyone must agree is peak civilization given the fact that the entire world wants to be here—which happens to be your history. You don’t pretend that the mud-hutters of the sub-Sahara were kings who conquered the world, and you don’t fictionalize history to make sure tribal peoples of antiquity are equally included.

Being white also means a Christian (or “Protestant”) work ethic is essentially inherent, and indistinct from your identity. You’re someone who thinks that to be successful you have to work hard, and you no doubt reject the idea that existence equals entitlement (logical inference would then suggest you’re probably not a socialist).
Whiteness is also politeness. You’re someone who shows up on time for work, and you respect other people’s schedules.
If you’re white, you don’t function in a 15-second window of past and future, satisfying every whim and indulging in every hedonistic impulse. You possess “future orientation” in your mindset.
The list goes on, and I could make a million more sarcastic comments, but I’m running out of room.

Yeah, I’m definitely going to cling to my whiteness if that’s the alternative.
The only offense in all of this is that my tax dollars were used to fund such a ludicrous anti-white piece of literature.
