Is Gavin Newsom the most ridiculous and ironic politico on the scene today? I came across one tweet from his official press office, and was immediately confronted with three layers of irony. We all know politics is a space saturated with out-of-touch and thick-headed morons, but is there anyone that’s quite near Newsom’s level? Now, here’s the post:

First off, California is actually one of just a handful of states that strictly regulate gaming computers, as part of their “energy-efficiency” regulations and bureaucracy (the other five states are the Democrat hellholes of Colorado, Hawaii, Oregon, Vermont, and Washington). You literally aren’t allowed to buy certain gaming computers because they draw too much from the grid, or something—but data centers, with their guzzling of gazillions of gallons of water and electricity demands that compare to a mid-to-large-sized city are okay? (Newsom is a big proponent of the data centers.) The data center comparison is a sidenote, but also ironic.
And, this ban on particular computers, including some Dell PCs, is a result of bureaucratic intervention from the California Energy Commission, and happened under Newsom’s watch—the ban was implemented in 2021. Trump hates gamers? If that’s true, then Newsom hated them first. Irony #1.
Secondly, Newsom is using tariffs as evidence of Trump’s alleged “hate” for certain demographics (“gamers”). Well what are tariffs but… A fine for producing and participating in the market? A “tax” passed on to consumers? A penalty levied against business owners, because of political climate conditions? I’m sure you see where I’m going with this—does Newsom have a leg to stand on when it comes to government levies? Abso-freaking-lutely not. In fact, he’s one of the worst offenders: California has the highest income tax in the country, the most regulatory restrictions, and the heaviest tax burden for its citizens across the board. Irony #2.

And lastly, Newsom’s little image in the corner of his press office account (seen above)? He’s got a crown on his head…despite being one of the most vocal “No Kings” idiots of Trump’s second term.

I hate to pay any attention to Newsom because he and his positions deserve zero respectable consideration, but he’s the bad penny that just keeps popping back up.
