There’s a lot of socialism going around among Democrats these days. They have rebranded it: “Democratic Socialists” or something like that. They say that this socialism is more about fairness and cheap electricity. They tell you that this is not Marxism or taking over the means of production. It’s all about health care and fair wages! And, of course, the rich will pay for the whole ride!

The Democrats are running into a little skepticism with Hispanics, as we see in this post from The Hill:  

Democrats have been trying to regain lost ground with Hispanic voters since the bruising 2024 election. 

But as they attempt to win back voters who migrated to the GOP, Democrats are also gripping with the rise of democratic socialism within their own party — a movement they see as a turnoff to some Hispanic voters, particularly the older set who hail from nations like Cuba and Venezuela.”

Yes, that older set from Cuba and Venezuela. All of those who actually experienced the lie of socialism and came here to escape it. I came here with my parents from Cuba, and I know the story inside out. The bottom line is that it doesn’t work. It’s as simple as that.

My guess, based on experience, is that the younger Hispanic set is pretty skeptical too. Look at the number of right-center presidents recently elected in Latin America. They rejected Chávez and Castro.

Unfortunately, the young liberals at the DSA were sold a lie by their teachers, and now they listen to candidates promising what can’t be delivered.

Yes, socialism is toxic and evil for people like me. We lived it. Or, like my late parents used to say:  We saw that movie, and it doesn’t end well.
