One of my favorite things about the East Asians is that they’re really a no-nonsense kind of people, possessing what appears to be zero tolerance for bad or offensive public behavior. While so many Americans were in awe of the Japanese World Cup fans who stayed behind in the stadium to clean up trash, for anyone who knows even the slightest bit about these cultures, it was entirely characteristic, as the Japanese are famously rigid in their penchant for civility and law and order—a year or two ago, a video went viral across social media showing that none of the Apple products were locked up in an Apple store somewhere in Japan, because theft is simply not a problem there.

Anyway, for the Japanese living in a “non-homogenous” or “diverse” place, like New York City, theft is a major problem. One restaurant, suffering losses from dine-and-dashers, decided to implement a “wall of shame” for the offenders:

Unfortunately, the culprits are…the usual suspects.
We’ve got “unruly teens,” “kids on bikes,” and now it’s time to add “dine-and-dashers” to the list of euphemisms for the ghetto blacks.
If you’re a fan of the Office and watched Season 7, this was actually a trope in one episode’s storyline: Michael is accidentally abandoned at a gas station somewhere in Scranton, and attempts to make his way back to the office without his wallet or his phone. He eats a meal at a local Chinese restaurant, and because he can’t pay, he’s forced to pose for a picture while holding up a sign that says “THIEF”—this polaroid then goes up on the establishment’s own wall of shame.

This is just one example of why I don’t think discrimination laws should be permitted—many of us, including the Japanese restaurant staff I’m sure, probably could have identified all these people as being “problem” diners beforehand. (There’s no shortage of dine-and-dash videos across X, literally all of which I’ve seen are…the usual suspects.) This isn’t to suggest that it’s the black skin of a person, but that in combination with a person’s outwardly disposition and overall appearance, is a pretty good indicator. If a black who looks like Thomas Sowell or Clarence Thomas walks in? You know you’re getting your money. But a black who looks and acts like George Floyd? You can almost guarantee how it’s going to go.
Why does the government have a right to force a private business to serve people who are almost undoubtedly going to cause a loss?
