What is behind the bizarre and destructive support of socialism in the United States? In part, the Democrats are struggling to make sense of their existence, particularly the economic, spiritual, and relationship challenges they have encountered. In a primal, immature, and desperate effort, the people who are embracing socialism are also striving to “return to the womb.”

There are all sorts of theories for what’s driving socialism’s takeover of the Democrat party. People argue that the new socialists don’t understand (or care) that socialism and communism have always failed, or that they don’t comprehend that this is not a pretty Scandinavian version of a deadly belief system.
However, what too few notice is that, more than anything, these new socialists want to be saved, comforted, and taken care of.
We should have seen this mindset coming when we saw college graduates returning to live in their parents’ homes. They complain about this “necessity” and the subsequent lack of privacy and freedom. Yet how much effort do they put into being independent and self-sufficient?
Let’s just say that the energies they devote to these aspirations are limited. And I think I know why.
Realistically, we all know it’s impossible to “return to the womb.” It’s unlikely that these intentions are even conscious. But they lie right under the surface of the psyches of the Democratic Socialists, waiting to be realized.

First, think of the womb. It is a place as primitive and fundamental to human existence as you’ll find:
The womb is not only a space of origin but also one of intense nurturing and protection. The developing fetus is completely reliant on the mother’s body for sustenance, warmth, and security. This fundamental dependence fosters a profound connection and represents the ultimate act of selfless care.
Most of us have probably had a time when we were in emotional or physical pain. The last thing we wanted to do was take on the challenges of the world. Instead, we probably wanted to curl up on the sofa with our favorite quilt, bury our heads in its folds, and make the world go away. For most of us, that picture, at best, rests in our imagination. However, occasionally, we indulge ourselves, if only for a limited time, to find relief and comfort.
The womb provides other protections, too. The Democratic Socialists rely on the socialist womb to feed them and nurture them through the difficult times. In addition, the womb protects them from those factors that might threaten their well-being.
Those people who gravitate to Socialism feel that they will get the benefits of a “womb-like” environment. Socialism will provide them with sustenance. They think they won’t have to earn a living. They won’t have to take on the stresses of ordinary life. They will not require much to survive, only enough to get them through each day. They won’t be the only ones who pursue this lifestyle: they will see many others who have chosen to rely on and want to be protected by the governmental womb, which will take care of all their needs and wants.
And rather than have to re-experience the trauma of the ordinary birth process as they are expelled from the womb, they will be able to stay there as long as they wish. Existence will entail living as if in a cocoon, with life suspended indefinitely and painlessly.

Is it any wonder that the left is embracing socialism?
