During his speech to the Disunited Nations, President Trump renamed AI to SI, where the “S” stands for “super.” I was watching Fox News only because it is the devil I know (not saying much, given the fake news competition).

Technical Directors and Graphics Operators in the Production Control Room are responsible for the overlay of content-specific graphics (aka chyrons), including tickers and “Breaking News Flashers.” For a live news show, adjusting tickers and news flashers may take a technician between 5 and 30 seconds.
During President Trump’s speech, well beyond 30 seconds (at least a few minutes in the second example below), the news flasher on Fox News screen continued to refer to “AI.” It also contained a blatant spelling mistake. Next, at least a couple of minutes after his rebranding, they are insisting that the DOJ will “reign AI in if needed.” I’m no spelling guru, but there are a couple of problems here. Even if one is slow to adopt the president’s new SI appellation, the DOJ will rein AI in, if needed, not reign AI in. They really must have graduated from the Poison Ivy League schools.

Not only is that news flasher imprecise and misspelled, but it is also insidiously fake. While banal AI needs human supervision, “SI,” as defined by President Trump, needs constant monitoring and tight controls. If scary Super Intelligence is no longer theoretical, then the DOJ may — may — indeed have cause to rein it in.
