It seems that the charming, demure, and level-headed Shelly Headen has been dumped by the North Carolina Democrat Party.

Headen, of course, is the Democrat NC House candidate who, upon visiting the ovens at Dachau, one of the most horrifying structures ever built by the hands of man, had a photo of herself taken with a sunny smile on her face and the caption, “This is where Trump supporters belong.”
That would be bad enough to force Gandhi out of the race. But as it turns out, it’s only the tip of the proverbial iceberg. On Facebook, she posted this: “Why is it that some of us can see what is going on in the world and others can’t… Maybe they [Republicans] need to experience sexual assault so they can experience what Trump’s victims feel.” On an X thread from a group calling itself Democrats, Republicans, and Independents for Democracy (clearly some kind of NeverTrump astroturf outfit), she posted, “I think our only hope is an attack on US Soil… preferably Alabama, Louisiana… where the stupid people live.” When Kamala was nominated, her response was ecstatic: “I’m so excited! Ready for the MAGAs to die off!!” But she soon topped that with: “The damage [Trump] has done is getting close to surpassing Hilter [sic]. In addition, I think his MAGA cult may be more destructive and evil than the Nazis.” (That “Hilter” spelling might cause some to speculate that she really doesn’t know what happened at Dachau).
It was also revealed that there existed at least two police reports from 2024 in which Headen apparently battered her husband, who was listed as a victim of domestic assault.
In light of all this (though the concern seems to be more with the social media stuff than the Nazi offense), NC Dems issued a statement – unavailable online for some reason – that they’d decided to drop her. Party spokesman Sam Lozier said, “Our responsibility was to determine whether she should continue receiving caucus support, and we acted accordingly.”
She was also dropped by her own county’s Democrat organization, the Guilford County Democratic Party, which seemed to be a lot more irate than the state party:

The Guilford County Democratic Party stands firmly for decency, mutual respect, and the core values of our community. We unequivocally reject and condemn the social media posts made by Shelly Headen. Language that references concentration camps, uses derogatory terms for neurodivergent individuals, or invokes political violence is completely indefensible and unacceptable.
The deadline for switching candidates passed weeks ago, so they’re stuck with her. This hasn’t stopped the Dems from attacking Headen’s GOP opponent John Blust: “This does not erase our serious concerns about John Blust’s record or our belief that the voters of House District 62 deserve better representation.”
As for Headen herself, she seems to be doubling down. Her campaign site is still up, and she stated for the record that “I’ve sacrificed myself just like Jesus sacrificed himself on the cross, and Martin Luther King and Abraham Lincoln and all the people that put themselves out there to sacrifice for our country.”
Uh-huh. Someone purporting to be a nephew posted on Reddit that she was fine until she “flipped about 10-12 years ago.” Headen has since cut herself off except for social media sniping. “…she needs some help, and certainly is not fit for office.”
