The other day, a Fox News talking head named Jesse Watters succumbed to Abdul’ El-Sayed’s “charm.” After his interview that kept the talking heads blabbering for a full day, Watters admitted that he “actually likes” Abdul personally.

What a disgusting bromance that I hope wiser heads nip in the bud.

Congrats, Watters, you got an interview that generated beltway noise. Certainly, one of the diminutive Fox ladies will probably outdo it with Dolly Parton coverage, so don’t get too carried away. It does raise the question: to what extent can someone “like” someone else who one disagrees with?

At first blush, the answer is obvious: to a great extent. It happens all the time, though not so much in our TDS-instigated political polarization. One remembers the “frenemies” Ronald Reagan and Tip O’Neill. They had some interpersonal vibes, and were somewhat likable.

By contrast, Mr. Watters, there is nothing likable about Abdul. Apparently he charmed you, or maybe you’re just looking to parlay your 15 minutes of fame by hitching your star to his. I’ve heard that even psychos can be “likable.” I’m not sure Abdul can be categorized as such, but he sure is a pervert.

At best, Abdul is a charismatic villain, but the charisma part would only appeal to the weak-willed who succumb to superficial charms. More likely, he is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Trust me, despite his best behavior on Fox News, he’s not going to suddenly dispel decades of distasteful dictums that are not only anti-American, but anti-human. His evil is deeply entrenched.

The likable frenemies loved America. President Reagan and Tip O’Neill shared some of the same goals, though they had different paths. By contrast, Abdul hates America, and if you hate America (the last great hope of Earth, up until now), there is something deeply disturbing going on in the dark recesses of his warped brain.

Sometimes those who overdo it in projecting a studly image are overcompensating for some latent effeminate feelings. Don’t be a feeble wussy, Watters, there is nothing to like about Abdul. Don’t be seduced by the dark side. Now man-up.
