It looks like our liberal friends are cranking up to blame “critics” for the death of black Cambridge professor Jason Arday.

But I’m here to tell our liberal friends, echoing the immortal linguist Col. Pickering, “you did it!”

The whole arc of left-wing politics, since not later than Marx and Engels, has been about “fighting” for the oppressed against the oppressors. But I say that in every case, the left Made Things Worse for their helpless victims.

Free education for the poor? Everyone, except those sucking the education tit, know that government education is an utter waste.

Welfare? Demolishes the low-income family.

Wage and hour laws and unions for the workers? How are all those industrial unionized workers doing these days? As opposed to unionized government employees living off the fat of the land.

Liberation for women? Listen, cupcake, the only thing that matters in this world is to get kids on the ground and keep them alive. For women, that means birthing and caring and mothering; for men it means providing and mentoring. Everything else is frosting on the cake.

Civil Rights for blacks? Yes, for one shining moment. Then politics as usual intervened and civil rights turned into affirmative action, then quotas, then DEI. And that Made Things Worse for blacks.

Marriage for gays? Hey, why not give them gubmint benefits like any normal modern serf? But if you drive off Route Marriage-and-Children, LGBTetc., you are driving into the wilderness.

What? You say I’m a racist-sexist-homophobe? “I don’t really care, Margaret.”

My take is that the Jason Arday tragedy proves the utter bankruptcy of the educated-class regime and culture. It was not just that he was black, there was more. Says the Guardian:

At the age of three, the south Londoner [from social housing] was diagnosed with autism and global developmental delay. He was unable to speak until he was 11 and could not read or write until 18.

Then “he forged an impressive academic career, mostly focusing on race and education.” Oh yeah, and did staggering things — raising money for charity and running marathons etc.

Hey, guess what: the guy that supervised Jason Arday’s PhD, Philip Vickerman, was “a professor of inclusive education and learning.” Experts agree that inclusive education and learning will transform the world just like Einstein and AI.

You know what this reminds me of? Girl flyer Amelia Earhart. She married a man, George P. Putnam (yeah, that Putnam) who was 120% into modern publicity. There’s a book about it, The Aviator and the Showman.

Back in the 1920s and 1930s the total liberation of women into the male sphere was The Thing that all advanced and fashionable people expected any moment. Hey, Amelia could fly around the world just like a man!

Lately, it’s been The Thing to have women run the big institutions of the educated-elite state. How’s that working out, Harvard? Cambridge? Bueller? Anyone?

Today, in the 2020s, the lifting of a black to the heights of academia has become The Thing that all fashionable people have become devoted to. Wouldn’t it be great to show that an oppressed black could rise to the empyrean heights? Ably assisted by a few of the Right People, of course.

Fact is, the left is living in an alternate universe. Example: Acting President Delcy Rodriguez:

President Fidel Castro is one of the leaders who transcend time and remain in the collective memory. Today, as we commemorate the centenary of his birth, we recall his steadfast commitment to dignity, social justice, sovereignty, and solidarity internationalism.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio:

Fidel Castro was a complete failure at everything except destroying Cuba and impoverishing, jailing and murdering his own people

I strongly suggest that anyone tempted to try and follow his example should carefully reconsider, because if they do they would be dooming themselves to failure as well.

Which of these two takes on Fidel Castro do you think is reality, and which is fantasy?

To help understand all this, from Jason Arday to Fidelito, I give you the notion of “closure beliefs” from Bjorn Merker’s Perishing Promise. Says he:

Each culture.. finds its way… to a set of authoritative answers that put an end to the interminable uncertainty [conjured up] by human language… Call them “closure beliefs”[.]

To make it Real Simple, a “closure belief” is one that you are not allowed to question.

For our liberal friends, the fundamental “closure belief” is that liberals are virtuous because they fight for “oppressed peoples” against “white male oppressors” and save the world with politics and government programs. And if you disagree you are a racist-sexist-homophobe.

Eventually, every “closure belief,” such as the Divine Right of Kings, gets blown up.

I prophesy that the “closure belief” of our age, the Woke Right of Liberals, will suffer the same fate.

And the only question is the size of the butcher’s bill.

At last! Ibram X. Kendi has spoken. “That is final.”
