She looks absolutely amazing, almost like a queen, which works well for Peru which has a very regal heritage. And Peru is one of those nations (like Vietnam and the Philippines) that has a lot of extremely good designers that few have heard of. When I visited Lima in 2012, I recall seeing an art store on every corner and wondered what that meant. Now, I have a better idea.
And it’s even more amazing when you consider that she doesn’t have the easiest figure to work with — she’s short, kind of blocky, and not exactly young.
But she looks better than any female president anywhere, any time. I can’t think of any female leader who’s looked better than this. It’s happy days for Peru.
This image can only be good for the future of the right in Latin America. Most leftists in the Americas are pretty ugly — think of that blue-haired old bag from Rhode Island, the frightful mayor of Seattle, or the ugly witch-like Rosario Murillo of Nicaragua. But some manage to present pretty well — AOC, Christina Fernandez, Nancy Pelosi.
Keiko looks better than any of them, a splendid image for a president of a respected Latin American country known for its heritage, tourism, imports at the groceries, minerals, the pope, and now, iron will to fight communism and narcoterrorists, and to bring free market prosperity to Peru, which is what Keiko stands for.
Sure, we’d like her if she were homely or frumpy for that, but why not look good doing it?
One can only wish her the best as she assumes office, surrounded by friendly neighbors and allies, with more on the way from Brazil, Venezuela, and maybe Mexico. A fresh lovely look is perfect for a new era dawning in our own hemisphere.
