Democrats sure can pick ’em: Get a load of North Carolina congressional candidate Shelly Headen

Lunatics and fanatics continue to come hard and fast from the Democrat party in this midterm election season.

For a party that expects to win, they sure do have a funny way of ensuring their winning momentum.

The latest freak is from North Carolina. Someone checked into Democrat statehouse candidate Shelly Headen’s social media posts and found a motherlode.

According to Breitbart News:

North Carolina Democrat state legislative candidate Shelly Headen posted a Facebook story from a vacation showing her in front of ovens in a German concentration camp memorial, saying, “Visiting Dauchau [sic] Concentration Camp in Germany… This is where Trump supporters belong.”

Headen was reportedly visiting Dachau, where the memorial states that 41,500 people were murdered.

Did I just read that right? Someone goes to the mass grave where 41,000 people were murdered and instead of expressing some kind of statement about the overwhelming cruelty of man’s inhumanity to man, or simply some respect for those who perished, she takes one look the Nazi ‘Final Solution’ and views it as a model?

It’s not only insults and dishonors the dead, it also suggest she’s got some Nazi instincts herself in her plans for her political opponents. Seriously, who would think that upon paying a visit to a place like Dachau?

That’s not politics, let alone the ‘decency’ she claims to champion. That’s Pol Pot.

This is far from the only gross and disgusting thing she has said.

According to WRAL: 

Posts on Facebook, LinkedIn and X accounts bearing her name and photograph promote an attack on U.S. soil, compare President Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler and wish ill toward those who support Trump’s “make America great again” slogan. 

“I think our only hope is an attack on US soil … preferably Alabama, Louisiana … where the stupid people live,” one Facebook post says.

“Ready for the MAGAs to die off!!” a message on X, formerly Twitter, says. 

A LinkedIn message compared Trump and his supporters to Nazis, saying Trump was “getting close to surpassing Hilter [sic]” and that the “MAGA cult may be more destructive and evil than the Nazis.”

WRAL said they couldn’t independently confirm that they made the posts, but the DNC seems to think she did write them — they believed it so much they disavowed her as a candidate and cut off funding, because she’s running in a swing district. No word on whether she will pull out though, some of them cling to the bitter end.

Her explanation for herself was absolutely bizarre, as reported by WRAL:

In her interview with The Assembly, Headen stood by her anti-Trump and anti-Maga views but downplayed previous social media posts on those topics and vowed to continue competing for the seat. 

“I’ve sacrificed myself just like Jesus sacrificed himself on the cross, and Martin Luther King and Abraham Lincoln and all the people that put themselves out there to sacrifice for our country,” she told the online news magazine. “If a few angry moments on social media are the end, then so be it. MAGA will keep winning if we continue with not standing up for what’s right.”

— no mea culpa, no claims to youth and inexperience, she just compared herself to … Christ.

Which pretty well makes her a poster girl for college-educated, mentally ill, leftist wimmin who are such a force within the Democrat party.

Yet she’s hardly alone.

In Michigan we have seen at least two freaks up close — Abdul El-Sayed, who calls for abolishing ICE, claims Israel is committing ‘genocide’ in Gaza (as if his party wasn’t loaded with genocide boosters against MAGA) and who hangs out with Hasan Piker, the charmer who said America ‘desesrved 9/11’ and hasn’t backed off from it.

There’s also William Lawrence, running for a House seat in another swing district in Michigan: He condemned moderate Democrat Joe Manchin with ‘hurry up and die’ and blasted the nuclear family, calling for the abolition of the Senate and the Constitution. His list goes on.

New York has a host of freaks, from Darializa Avila Chevalier who wiped her hands on the American flag, to DSA’er Claire Valdez and ex-DSA’er Brad Lander, both of whom have called fot abolishing ICE, getting Israel, and flung the word ‘fascist’ around with alacrity.

In Colorado, congressional Democrat candidate Melat Kiros called 9/11 ‘inevitable.’

In New Jersey, statehouse candidate Matt Hamawy testified in support of 1993 World Trade Center bombing mastermind Omar Abdel-Rahman, a.k., the ‘Blind Sheikh.’

This is hardly all of them.

But these lunatics are expected to win in swing districts and will hopefully be rejected as repulsive to voters in swing districts even as there’s little to be done about the deep blues.

It’s striking that this is their crop of new candidates even in swing districts, as if mainstream Democrat candidates are somehow being blocked or don’t want to run.

Ruy Teixeira, a leftwing commenator who is reasonable, sees the problem in a Democrat party that has lost touch wih the working class, which is notoriously bee ess-averse.

There was a brief moment right after the 2024 election when a real reckoning seemed possible. That didn’t last. #Resistance fever gripped the party, the usual suspects fought off any revision of party positions, and momentum shifted to the energized progressive left instead.

The trend has only accelerated.

Now the freaks are coming out fast and thick, rapidly changing the Democrat party from an oligarchy to a kakistocracy, or, rule by the worst, with Headen an example of what’s at the bottom of the barrel.

It’s so obvious in the quality of so many of the candidates on offer. One hopes that the party can correct itself, but it seems to be a bus without brakes, and we know that kakistocracies have taken root in many countries with weak democracies and are all but impossible to dislodge. Venezuela is Exhibit A.
