So nothing was ever quite what Dr. Anthony Fauci said it was.
The onetime National Institute for Allergies and Infectious Diseases director got his lovingly detailed diaries released by Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, and the big thing we learn is that he never told the truth about anything.
According to Paul’s string of releases, which will be presented in Congress when Fauci testifies there under subpoena:
1/9 — My investigation uncovered that Anthony Fauci kept a diary.
What he wrote privately and what he told the country are two different stories.Today I’m releasing his entries from December 2019 through December 2022. 🧵 pic.twitter.com/58LvmeYkCN

He summarized that Fauci got the first call about the COVID lab-leak theory in late January 2020 when the pandemic began, decided to expand the investigative board for it, quite possibly to put ‘his’ people there, and after that at least two of them argued for a ‘natural origin’ theory of the leak, e.g., bats or pangolins, while the rest did not rule out a lab leak. Fauci declared then that the experts were ‘divided.’
He, though, came out with the ‘natural origin’ theory by April, not wanting his role in funding gain-of-function research to become known. He ‘brushed off’ lab-leak theories as ‘circular arguments.’
When the FBI came up with evidence of a lab-leak in July 2021, he wrote that he told NSC officials that the FBI “had no idea what they were talking about.” He advised them instead to consult with his handpicked ‘experts’ cited above. By coincidence, two of them had just published a paper claiming ‘natural origins.’
When evidence emerged of gain-of-function research, he dismissed it as not that ‘by our definition,’ which was an impressive use of weasel words.
He tried to finesse the ‘wet market’ theory as ‘the amplifier’ of the spread of COVID, but privately wrote that the wet market was off the table in his private notes.
He asked the Chinese head of the Chinese version of the CDC if asymptomatic people could spread the disease, the Chinse official told him ‘yes.’ He told television economist Larry Kudlow who asked about when the lockdowns would crash the economy and he wrote that he told Kudlow that ‘we are O.K. for now.’ (He obviously knew it would get worse with the Chinese official’s information.)
Then he checked on his NIH grant and wrote of his relief that the grant-givers were on the same page as he was about the pangolins and all that.
By July 2021, he was ranting about conspiracy theories, and doing all he could to demonize anyone asking questions.

This is far from every lousy thing he did but it’s the yeoman’s work that Paul did.

I am struck by the hypocrisy of his visit with Jake Tapper:
Fauci backchanneled questions to Jake Tapper for his interview with Trump’s assistant secretary for health. He’d recently been over to the Tapper home for dinner and wrote “Friendship building.” Tapper had also been texting Fauci his private thoughts on Deb Birx. pic.twitter.com/wGNzD5llJ9

Jake Tapper was having Fauci over for dinners. Fauci called it “friendship building.”
Tapper told Fauci he “wanted to make sure the interview didn’t cause any problems.”
Tapper would ‘interview’ Fauci, and do things like nod along as Fauci blasts red states.

And he constantly contradicted himself, always keeping his grants in mind:
Anthony Fauci lived a life of contradictions.
I didn’t close the schools; I closed the schools
I didn’t fund Wuhan gain of function research; he wrote the checks
Masks don’t work; everyone must wear masks

There also are questions about vaccine efficacy and deep state efforts to undermine and misinform President Trump.
As well as this: the outrageous demonization of ivermectin, a safe and effective solution denounced as horse paste which could have saved millions of lives. I know: I took it when I had COVID symptoms — and it killed it off so effectively after one dose that I tested negative for it the next day:
RFK Jr. explains why Fauci had such a problem with early treatments like ivermectin:
“Tony Fauci’s problem is this: there’s a little-known Federal law that says, ‘You cannot give an emergency use authorization to a vaccine if there is any medication approved for any purpose that… pic.twitter.com/vRNSNh7Mtd

The lies came down like rain:
Dr Fauci and Mr. Science
The Fauci files reveal not just a sociopathic narcissist, but also a pathological schizophrenic.
For years, Fauci was assuring the public of Covid narratives that he either knew were untrue, or knew little about.
He posed as a non-partisan, even as he…

It’s a stew of nasty material that cost the U.S. economy billions in lost productivity and fraud, not to mention, the lives of those who died and their survivors who want answers.
It should be a worthy hearing, at a minimum laying out the man who did more than anyone to undermine public confidence in the public health system and reap big as a result.
In addition, Paul has a warning:
If Anthony Fauci lies before Congress on Wednesday, as he did in previous hearings, his preemptive pardon won’t cover him. https://t.co/i4YiRSGtCT
