Billionaire Tom Steyer made his fortune with a hedge fund that substantially invested in private prisons and coal-fired power plants. That was before he began running for political office as a Democrat, prisons and coal plants being toxic in those circles. He has thus far spent $132 million of his own money on his current run for California Governor, which has bought him third place at 15%–for the moment—behind Xavier Becerra at 21% and Republican Steve Hilton at 22%.

California polling tends to reflect what Democrats want to happen rather than what is happening, particularly when a Republican is doing well; however, it appears Steyer is, once again, spending a large fortune for the dubious distinction of being an also-ran.

When multiple Democrats vie for the same political job, they must out-Democrat each other. Since the advent of Trump II, the Trans Superiority Narrative—TSN–which requires society to adapt to and praise the whims of the mentally ill, has been in precipitous decline, but Steyer is doing his best to keep it alive. That isn’t a particularly difficult trick in California, one of the last and loudest bastions of trans lunacy:

California gubernatorial candidate Tom Steyer defended transgender athletes competing in high school sports in a podcast posted on Sunday, arguing that excluding transgendered youth from athletics would worsen the emotional and mental health struggles many already face.

“I’m totally in favor of trans athletes in high school,” Steyer told “I’ve Had It” podcast host Jennifer Welch.

“When you understand the vulnerability, the stress, the danger of being a trans kid, and you understand almost half of them try to commit suicide, then you think, ‘We’re gonna punish those kids, we’re gonna cut them off from team sport.’ It’s like, no we’re not.”

One need not read between the lines to understand Steyer is arguing against his own assertions:

Steyer made similar remarks when speaking to CBS Los Angeles but also branded dissidents for perpetuating a “right-wing attempt” to smear transgender individuals.

“To be clear, this is not some huge epidemic,” he said. “This is a right-wing attempt to victimize and villainize already vulnerable and desperate people, and my heart completely goes out to the people who are so sad, feel so rejected, and so unaccepted that half of them would try to kill themselves.

There is good reason to think the assertion that 41% of trans will inevitably try to commit suicide is confirmation bias rather than fact. “Do what I want, or I’ll kill myself,” is a circular, insane argument that argues not for doing what mentally ill people want—“gender affirming care”—but psychiatric care aimed at returning them to reality.

That statistic comes from of 6,450 “transgender respondents.”

However, a 2021 paper [3] notes that the participants were recruited through transgender advocacy organizations and subjects were asked to “pledge” to promote the survey among friends and family. This recruiting method yielded a large but highly skewed sample. By targeting transgender advocacy groups, the survey underrepresented the experiences of transgender individuals who are not politically engaged.

In other words, people with a vested, desperate interest in holding society hostage with the threat of suicide affirmed they would commit suicide if their demands weren’t met.

Steyer’s assertion of “the danger of being a trans kid” is a self-imposed, self-imagined danger. So too is the idea that boys pretending to be girls for the purpose of athletic glory are somehow punished by not being allowed to beat, figuratively and literally, girls. Imposing the TSN on girls and women topples the foundations of sports, which require fair competition. That’s why 200-pound men don’t box against 135-pound men. That’s why 60-year-old women don’t run against 20-year-old women, and that’s why males shouldn’t compete against females at all.

The TSN fails on every level. Among them is the reality that we hear nothing of girls pretending to be boys dominating boys’ sports. That’s where the TSN faith that there are no physical differences between males and females utterly falls apart. There is no advantage for a girl to participate in boys’ sports, and when they try, they’re quickly crushed. But a mediocre male athlete can pretend to be a girl and immediately vault to the medal stand.

There is no “right-wing” attempt to villainize trans. Plenty of Democrats with athletic daughters don’t want to expose them to boys in locker rooms, bathrooms, or on athletic fields. And if trans are “so sad, feel so rejected, and so unaccepted,” the cure isn’t indulging their mental illness, but curing it.

Part of that cure is defeating people like Steyer and other Democrats, enabling mental illness at the cost of the sane.
