Before we get to New York, let’s spend a minute in Texas where Rep. Al Green lost in the runoff.  You may remember him as the Democrat who usually put on a show whenever President Trump spoke in Congress.  Yes, I mean this Al Green.  Well, Al is out and replaced by a younger liberal.  President Trump should speak one more time in Congress just to watch Green do it one more time, one more act, one more performance, one more of his crazy antics just to say farewell.

Up in New York, we may see another Democrat go down and replaced by a version of AOC.  Let’s check this out because it speaks volumes about the state of the Democrat party.  Here is an analysis by Jonathan Turley:

New York Democrat Rep. Dan Goldman is fast becoming the Marie Antoinette of New York politics. As Democratic socialists rage against the privileged elite and promise sweeping welfare programs, Goldman is doubling down on promises of more impeachments and investigations. The ultimate establishment candidate is floundering. He is reportedly more than 20 points behind his Mamdani-endorsed opponent, housing advocate and former Comptroller Brad Lander. It appears that the ‘let-them-eat impeachments’ is not resonating with his constituents.

While Goldman is trying to fight off the challenge from the left with some pocketbook pitches, he is sticking to the narrative that got him elected a few years ago. In an ‘age of rage,’ Goldman has excelled, pushing unstepped on, unadulterated rage. Since his entry into politics, he has run on what was viewed as the sure winner in New York politics: obsessive, unending attacks on President Donald Trump. Goldman made sure that no one was more enraged at all things Trump, all the time.

In this campaign, Goldman has returned to the same theme of promising new investigations and impeachments. Goldman claimed recently on MSNOW that he will lead any impeachment of Trump. (‘[Maryland Democrat Rep.] Jamie Raskin and I will be leading investigations into Trump’s corruption, into all of the cabinet officials’).

Yes, Dan is out to get Trump and apparently that’s not enough for the party’s base anymore.  Maybe the base has come to the conclusion that these Democrats are phony and will not follow up with any of this stuff.  Maybe the base is beyond Trump and they want socialism this time around.  I don’t know, but they don’t come any more anti-Trump than Goldman, and yet it’s seemingly not enough for his district.

In Texas and New York, and maybe in other places too, it appears that the Democrat base has lost faith in the usual faces.  They are sick and tired of Green’s performances or watching Goldman go on MSNow just to attack Trump for the umpteenth time.  The bad news (for them) is that anti-Trump incumbents just can’t persuade their base anymore with their usual acts.  The silver lining is that this radical base is taking over the party district by district, which will only help GOP candidates in competitive elections, especially after redistricting.

It’s like the incumbents are singing to the base that Neil Diamond/Barbra Streisand song:  “You don’t bring me flowers, you don’t sing me love songs, you hardly talk to me anymore…”
