As our World Cup visitors explore our country, they are beginning to appreciate the inspiration for the “America the Beautiful” lyrics. This beauty is especially abundant in flyover country.

Overall, our hospitality has also been abundant…but then there is socialist Seattle.
As I type, Seattle is preparing to host a match between Iran and Egypt. We may be less sympathetic to the sensitivities of Iran, but Egypt? They are a major non-NATO ally of the United States. President Trump has repeatedly praised Egypt president Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. They deserve our respect and assiduous hospitality, yet Seattle is sticking a big finger in their eye. Specifically, Seattle Stadium (AKA Lumen Field) will fly gaudy Pride flags during the match.
Even for open-minded Westerners, that seems a bit too much pride being shoved in our faces. Egypt is less tolerant than we and considers some aspects of prideful behavior to constitute debauchery, subject to criminal penalties.
FIFA (soccer’s world governing body) issued this statement in defense of Seattle’s Pride displays: “The FIFA World Cup 2026 is an inclusive event that welcomes people from all backgrounds. Fans of all sexual orientations and gender identities are welcome at matches and events.”

That sort of raises the question: How many sexual orientations are there? I know there are various Tantric positions, but orientations? As for identities, I presume those with gender dysphoria don’t “walk like an Egyptian.” Gianni Infantino (FIFA president) wants the World Cup to unite the world — this is not the way to do it.
Contrast Seattle’s stubborn and offensive Pride to the hospitality of Lawrence, Kansas. That’s where the Algerian soccer team are based. Like Egypt, the Algerians don’t view prideful public indecency favorably, also meting out harsh punishments. Fortunately, rather than bombard their visitors with Pride festoons and parades, the Lawrence locals demonstrated grace and appropriate manners to their guests.
Arabic is a Category IV language (meaning it is bloody hard to learn), but God bless the workers at a Lawrence pub for trying in order to greet their new friends. Marching bands from the local school played the Algerian national anthem; community artists wove an Algerian flag. That’s Kansas hospitality that warms the cockles of one’s heart. No wonder many leftists despise rural America — they have no heart, not even the bleeding kind, anymore.
Our World Cup visitors are reminding us of our magnificent munificence. As time allows, next time I head east (from the leftist coast), it won’t be a fly-over. I intend to drive through beautiful Kansas and the rest of our majestic hinterland, with some respite at the heartwarming pub in Lawrence.
