Many Americans have no idea who Troy Jackson is. That’s probably a good thing.
More Americans likely remember Graham Platner, Democrats’ attempt to turn a pitiful example of manhood into an amiable everyman, a rugged, small-business outdoorsman, the epitome of non-threatening American manhood, the kind of guy every state, and particularly Maine, needs in the US Senate.

Unfortunately for Democrats, Platner sported an enormous Nazi tattoo on his chest and claimed to have no idea what it was. He was abusive toward women, and proudly proclaimed that if anyone burglarized his home, he’d anally rape them, but not in a homosexual way. He’d do what any red-blooded American male would do: he’d anally rape them to show dominance. I mean, who hasn’t thought about doing that? It took months, but after stubbornly, stupidly defending him, Democrats finally threw him under the campaign bus and made Troy Jackson their nominee for the Senate in Maine.
Who is Jackson? He’s a logger and the former president of the Maine state Senate, another one of those hardy, outdoor types Democrats have to search high and low to find or manufacture. He ran for Governor this year, but lost in that primary.
It’s not going well for Jackson. Real Clear Politics polling averages have him ahead of Collins by a whopping 0.1%, and she has been steadily gaining. Collins has never been what one might call a reliable conservative, but what matters this year is the number of “Rs” in the House and Senate, not their conservative reliability.
Jackson has plenty of deficits and his latest gaffe is costing him:
Troy Jackson, the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in Maine, said in a Tuesday television interview that it is “unfortunate” that Jewish Mainers don’t call the war in the Gaza Strip a “genocide.”
Jackson, a logger from northern Maine and former president of Maine’s state Senate, is challenging Sen. Susan Collins (R) in a contest critical to Democratic hopes for reclaiming control of the U.S. Senate. Jackson has repeatedly referred to the war as a “genocide” during his campaign and said he opposes American military aid to Israel.
“It’s unfortunate that there are people here in Maine that don’t like to use that term only because, you know, they’re Jewish, and what that means to them with the Holocaust,” Jackson said in the interview with News Center Maine, Portland’s NBC News affiliate.

That’s quite the non-apology apology. Those darned Jews are just so sensitive about a little thing like the Holocaust. They ought to quit being so touchy, suck it up, and do their duty to vote for Democrats no matter what. “No matter what” obviously being the October 7th massacre of Jews, the worst slaughter of Jews since the actual Holocaust, and the daily threats of the Islamists that surround Israel to finish what Hitler started.
Is there a genocide in Gaza? Not so much. It’s like the “trans genocide” in America: much commented upon, but awfully short of hostile intent and bodies.
According to the 1948 Genocide Convention, it [Genocide] refers to acts committed with the intent to destroy a national, ethnic, racial or religious group in whole or in part. Not simply killing. Not even killing large numbers of civilians.

Israel has never demonstrated genocidal intent. More than any nation in history, it goes out of its way to avoid civilian casualties, a trait not demonstrated by its Islamist enemies who daily call for genocide against Jews.
Before the war, Gaza’s population stood at roughly 2.1 million. As of 2025, it has dropped by around 6%-a number that includes those who died naturally, and those killed, missing or displaced. That figure also reflects large-scale evacuations.
Even that 6% is almost certainly exaggerated, because the numbers come from Hamas, proven liars. Throughout the war, Israel has delivered millions upon millions of pounds of food, fuel, and medical supplies to its Gazan enemies, much of which was stolen by Hamas. Israel, as always, continues to provide medical treatment for Gazans, treatment denied in part because Hamas uses hospitals to hide combatants and to store munitions.
Moreover, the Gaza population still numbers close to 2 million. There is no plan to erase them. There is no forced sterilization, no ethnic cleansing campaign, no effort to eliminate their identity or culture.
To be fairer to Jackson than he deserves, he’s a doctrinaire Democrat. He, like his Party, takes traditional Democrat voting blocs like Jews and blacks for granted. They’d better vote for Democrats because they always have, if they know what’s good for them.
This year, October 7 has given some American Jews a somewhat different idea of what’s good for them, and it’s not Jackson or Democrats.
