I don’t know what makes Sen. Elizabeth Warren think she’s a bond market whiz, but she seems to think she is, and enough to boss Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, a former hedge fund manager, around.

According to Fox Business:

FOX Business has exclusively obtained Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s response to Senator Elizabeth Warren’s latest letter about the rise in the 10-year treasury yield.

“Happy Indigenous People’s Day in advance to you and your family,” Bessent handwrote at the end of his scathing letter, mocking her former claim of Native American heritage.

The senator has sent more than 100 letters to the Treasury Department asking for information in the past 21 months.

Bessent’s Saturday letter, which was snarky at other points as well, accused Warren of having little knowledge about financial markets.

She had been writing him letter after letter, more than 100 in all, and Bessent sent her one reply, which he posted online for everyone to read, too.

It began with:

Dear Senator Warren:

I have received your October 7 letter, which adds to the mounting body of evidence of your complete paucity of knowledge about financial markets. Rather than take my suggestion of studying introductory economics, you have continued your letter-writing crusade and participation in tabloid fodder about the Treasury Department.

Bessent was a very successful hedge fund manager while in the private sector and no one has a better grasp of markets and money in Washington, D.C. To hear the carping, complaining, ignorance and whining from Warren in 100 letters, which he said she wrote, must have grated on his nerves. Did she ever do anything else?

So he issued his smackdown letter, dripping with contempt for her fiscal views, defending the Treasury buybacks dating from May 2024 which he said have been well received by markets and offer value to the taxpayers. He also cited her opposition to Working Families Tax Cuts results she voted against — that included enhanced deductions, no taxes on tips, no taxes on overtime, and Trump accounts for kids. Some consumer advocate! He also defended staff, offering her an FX for Dummies course since she was so stupid.

In a splendid lagniappe, he hand wrote a “Happy Indigenous People’s Day in advance to you and your family,” reminding everyone that not only is a fake market expert who knows nothing about economics, as well as a windbag, she’s also a fake Indian.
