We who live in New York State, and especially in New York City, both of which are dominated by Democrats in power, experience every day the negative consequences of progressive political policies and management in action. New Yorkers are witnessing a state and city in rapid decline, characterized by a collapse of civility, and a war against success, standards, and excellence.

Political promises made by progressives have a very favorable emotional appeal, until the facts are examined. At both the local and national level, progressive policies simply do not work; even more discouraging is that they most often make problems they are trying to address worse. The typical Democrat’s platform is performance art perfected. They typically offer plans, programs, and position papers, yet few demonstrable positive results.

Dysfunctional governance ranges from consenting to operate as a sanctuary state and city to the delivery of poor services by a highly paid and protected unionized work force. Everyday there are stories of a failing and dangerous public transportation system; residents must cope with daily interactions with rising numbers of homeless and mentally ill people on the streets. Public safety and unacceptable crime rates are always a concern with progressives in power, for they routinely pander to members of their core constituency by placing the rights of criminals above those of law-abiding citizens and law enforcement. This is all topped off with unnecessarily high housing costs and the burden of exploitative tax rates.

Intentions and outcomes are the two sides of every policy decision made by leaders in power. Progressives often portray that they have “good” intentions. However, their policies usually offer negative and damaging consequences, quite often leaving the original problem even more challenging to solve. We have experienced that the use of excessive rhetoric from the Left does not resolve many issues demonstrated by the declining conditions and fortunes of New York State and City. Unfortunately, many voters, especially on the political left, do not make the distinction between promises made and results delivered.

Traditionally, my politically left-leaning neighbors will carry on voting against their best interests as they continue to elect to place more control over their lives in the hands of an ever-expanding government. Their strong belief in an ideology that supports big government above all else outweighs all the evidence available to the contrary that they stand on the wrong side of the debate regarding the proper role for government, given Blue cities and states are in such extraordinary disarray here and across the country.

Instead of unifying people according to mutual interests, progressives in power deliberately follow policies of promoting division utilizing identity politics by segregating people according to group, race, gender, and class. Their policies promote dependency among groups to buy long-term voting allegiance. At the same time, they neglect the interests of the majority of citizens, who tend to be working and middle-class taxpayers.

The concerns of the taxpaying public are guaranteed to be last on the left’s priority list; there is a limited opportunity to buy future votes, making non-taxpayers permanently dependent upon special treatment by the government. Social Justice is just another name for different rules for different groups of people, most often based on any group’s ability to deliver votes in substantial enough numbers to Democrat candidates at election time.

Today, New York progressive politicians use the power of government action to promote greater wealth equality. They view current conditions as unfair to many segments of society, and want the government to play a key role in leveling the playing field.

New York City, like many other left-leaning municipal governments, promotes an economic model ruled by the concept of social justice and dominated by Big Government, resulting in an economy that limits flexibility, innovation, and individual initiative, therefore, growth and opportunity for all. These policies result in a lack of adequate job opportunities for the Middle Class and especially the young, and has created an exodus of many New Yorkers and prominent employers to other states. People vote with their feet as they judge their opportunities to create a better future, much improved in other states, with the Sunbelt as the preferred destination. Likewise, capital movement is fluid and moves rapidly to invest in locations with pro-business environments. JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, Wells Fargo, Citibank, and Amazon are all downsizing their New York City presence.

The very wealthy on the upper level of the income scale pay the most local taxes. However, increasing levels of extreme Democrat rhetoric on calls for wealth taxes has accelerated the exodus of our most productive citizens. This emerging trend will result in depriving future much needed tax revenues.

Younger and more educated demographics have come to believe radically progressive policies, and many Democrat party officeholders have not gone far enough left to address what they consider as the main issues of the day. In response, we are witness to the rise of a Marxist movement aligned with Radical Islam, the Democratic Socialists of America. Marxism and Islam are seemingly an incompatible pairing; however, the objectives they have in common is they are both totalitarian movements dedicated to the overthrow of America and our way of life.

Their radical agenda is focused on subverting the institutions of our government and displacing capitalism with Marxist-style socialism. The Radical Islamists who are part of this new coalition wish to establish Moslem supremacy and impose Sharia Law upon our nation. Also, these two parties share an agenda which publicly promotes virulent anti-Israeli policies and antisemitism.

It cannot be overlooked that the DSA radicals are currently competing to be the dominant face of the Democrat party. Consequently, all Democrat politicians will be coerced to follow along with the extreme DSA political agenda. The evolving agenda at its core hates the American people and our country. In addition, it deliberately promotes societal chaos and fear among the people as a deliberate control mechanism to gain leverage and political power. Fearful people will offer less resistance to the Marxist revolution of the Democrats.

The critical question becomes: Are New Yorkers doomed to a continual cycle of repeating the same critical mistakes, or are enough voters open this November to take corrective action at the ballot box?

On November 3, 2026, the right and only path is clear. New Yorkers must vote in sufficient numbers for a critical change by pulling the lever for Republican candidates across the state, and most importantly elect Bruce Blakeman as governor. A future Governor Bruce Blakeman will position New York State and City on the road to recovery.
