The International Court of Justice (ICJ), along with the Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention (Lemkin Institute) and a collection of other organizations, are using lies and deceptions to accuse Israel of committing genocide, a sure path to Israel’s destruction. One of the most disgusting aspects of their attacks is that the Lemkin Institute has fraudulently co-opted the name of Raphael Lemkin, who spent his lifetime defining and promoting an understanding of genocide.

The ICJ’s efforts are pursuing a staged strategy. A first step in Israel’s destruction is a case against Myanmar that allows them to lower the genocide standard:

The Trump administration is working to dismantle the International Criminal Court. But a different tribunal, the International Court of Justice, could become a greater threat to the security of the U.S. and its allies. The ICJ is deciding a case, Gambia vs. Myanmar, that could drastically lower the legal threshold for genocide.

This is the express goal of some advocates, since it would pave the way for a genocide finding in South Africa’s pending case against Israel. The lower threshold would also unleash genocide claims against the U.S., other North Atlantic Treaty Organization members and their officials in international courts.

Even though most observers would agree that Myanmar committed horrendous mass executions against the Rohingya, that hasn’t stopped the ICJ from using the case as a vehicle for changing genocide’s definition to a squishy standard that can be used against any ICJ enemies, especially Israel:

The Myanmar judgment, expected in October, would establish the lower threshold before the ICJ judgment on Israel. It would change the rule first in the less-watched case against Myanmar rather than seemingly invent it for Israel.

Activists are particularly eager to lower the standard because genocide is often the ICJ’s only practical jurisdictional hook for intervening in a war. Unlike the Genocide Convention, neither the Geneva Conventions or other law-of-war treaties provide the ICJ with any jurisdiction.

Even as the ICJ was moving forward with this, an organization calling itself the Lemkin Institute inserted itself in the genocide debate. This matters because the organization is using the name of Raphael Lemkin—and it did so without his family’s permission. This matters because Lemkin defined the international standard for actionable “genocide” by looking at the mass atrocities of the 20th century:

From childhood, Lemkin was fascinated with the history of religious and ethnic persecution. He was also keenly aware of antisemitic pogroms. Then, as a law student in his twenties, Lemkin learned about the Ottoman destruction of the Armenians during World War I (known today as the Armenian Genocide). His outrage about historical and contemporary events of group-targeted mass violence inspired his belief that there should be an international law against the destruction of groups.

Significantly, Lemkin narrowly defined genocide in this way:

‘By ‘genocide’ we mean the destruction of a nation or of an ethnic group. This new word, coined by the author to denote an old practice in its modern development, is made from the ancient Greek word genos (race, tribe) and the Latin cide (killing)…. Generally speaking, genocide does not necessarily mean the immediate destruction of a nation, except when accomplished by mass killings of all members of a nation. It is intended rather to signify a coordinated plan of different actions aiming at the destruction of essential foundations of the life of national groups, with the aim of annihilating the groups themselves. Genocide is directed against the national group as an entity, and the actions involved are directed against individuals, not in their individual capacity, but as members of the national group.’

But the Lemkin Institute has ignored its namesake’s specific definition to launch a bogus attack against Israel. It has joined the ICJ’s cause to accuse Israel of genocide. Here are the the LIGP is making:

The world has been shockingly passive over two and a half years of genocide, despite ever greater numbers of experts and humanitarians concluding that Israel is committing that crime.

[snip]

Even if they do not ‘agree with’ the expert opinion of scholars and jurists that Israel is committing genocide, we cannot imagine what benefits they enjoy by allowing an out-of-control state to continue to commit crimes against humanity and/or war crimes across so many borders. Genocidal states that are given such astonishing impunity will only continue to radicalize. Israel, like all genocidal states, is insatiable in its reiteration of genocidal atrocities.

The facts say otherwise:

Some ethnic cleansing. In 1945, Gaza’s population was 80,000. In 2023, it was 2.2 million. Now compare that to ancient Jewish and Christian populations across the Middle East that are now almost extinct due to ethnic cleansing. pic.twitter.com/TpaiyJFSrL

Raphael Lemkin’s family is outraged and has responded to the illegitimate use of Lemkin’s name and work by calling out the LIGP:

On April 27, 2026, the European Jewish Association, together with Joseph Lemkin, the closest living relative of Raphael Lemkin and president of the Jewish Bar Association, submitted a comprehensive legal memorandum to the Office of the Governor of Pennsylvania and the Pennsylvania Bureau of Corporations and Charitable Organizations. The submission is not a political document. It is a detailed legal record establishing that the organization calling itself the Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention has, since its founding in 2021, used the Lemkin name without the knowledge, consent, or authorization of the Lemkin family. It further asserts that this conduct constitutes violations of Pennsylvania statutory law, Pennsylvania common law, and federal law, including the Lanham Act. More fundamentally, the memorandum concludes that the Institute has ‘systematically weaponized Raphael Lemkin’s coined term ‘genocide’ against the State of Israel’ in direct contradiction to Lemkin’s documented values, his Zionist writings, and his legal definition of the term.

Under the auspices of genocide, these organizations are determined to destroy the state of Israel by any means necessary.
