A Rochester, New York, homeowner reportedly awakened before dawn to the sound of someone breaking into his house.
By the time police arrived, the suspected burglar was dead in the kitchen—and the homeowner was ready to cooperate with investigators.
According to reports, the Rochester Police Department officers responded to a home on Avery Street at approximately 4:30 a.m. on August 3. A neighbor initially called 911 after hearing gunshots. The homeowner then called and reported that he had shot someone who broke into his residence.
Police found the intruder inside the kitchen and pronounced him dead at the scene.

According to news reports, the suspected burglar was already known to the criminal-justice system and had been released on parole after a previous burglary conviction.

So, another person released on parole decides to return to the business of crime. We’ve heard this so often that it makes you wonder what some of these judges are thinking. We are all in favor of “second chances,” but this burglar should not have been on the street.
Also, in New York City, a young mother was stabbed to death by another one of these people who should never have been walking the streets. As I understand it, the killer in New York City did not have a criminal record, but her state of mind should have been enough to keep her away from our streets.
The system fails the law-abiding citizen when these criminals are loose and potentially harming people. In Rochester, a homeowner was able to defend himself, thanks to a gun. In New York City, a young mother did not have the means to fight back and died.
Cheers for the Second Amendment, and shame on the system that lets these people walk the streets.
