“Democratic Socialists” usually take pains to clumsily distinguish themselves from Communists. “We’re Socialists, but we’re democratic,” they explain with a Mandani/El-Sayed smirk.

They lie. Democracy, and particularly a constitutional republic, is incompatible with Socialism and Communism, which are merely slightly different shades of the same evil ideology.
Socialism is Communism lite. It’s all the economic damage, all the societal collapse, all the misery, oppression, and death with fewer calories, because no one can get enough to eat except the leadership class. Democratic Socialists, the DSA, won’t kill you, but they will cancel you, deprive you of your career and of all choices about your life, “redistribute” your money, deprive you of healthcare, bankrupt you, and imprison you. Until, that is, they have sufficient control over government, which is when they go full Communist. Then, they’ll kill you in “reeducation” or labor camps, or they may just go full Chinese Communist, shoot you in the back of the head, and bill your survivors—if they haven’t already killed them—for the cartridge.
Fortunately, at least some Republican leaders know the truth and aren’t afraid to say it:
“These are not social Democrats,” President Donald Trump said on June 26. “These are hardcore, godless Communists.”
“I, unfortunately, fear that’s the direction the Democrats are headed. And it is communism,” Vice President JD Vance…
Responding to the DSA’s platform on July 26, U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., warned: “Communism is no longer a far-fetched threat. It is here on our SHORES!”
And so it is:
“Our goal is Communism,” David Jenkins, a member of DSA’s National Political Committee, said in 2023.
DSA member Cea Weaver is New York City’s tenant tsarina. She posted via X in December 2017, “Elect more communists.” The next year, she demanded: “Seize private property.”
And why should we care about what Cea Weaver said in 2017?
Weaver’s boss is Mayor Zohran Mamdani. In his Jan. 1 inaugural address, he stated: “I was elected as a democratic socialist, and I will govern as a democratic socialist.” He told a DSA Zoom call in 2021: The “end goal” should be “seizing the means of production.” Mamdani also said, “The abolition of private property … is preferable to what is going on right now.” These comments loudly echo Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels’ cornerstone collectivist text “The Communist Manifesto.”

Current DSA mouthpiece Hasan Piker thinks the fall of the Soviet Union was a great catastrophe. He thinks Mao Zedong, the greatest mass murderer in history, was one of the world’s great leaders. He likes Mao so much he often wears a Mao jacket. He also thinks we deserved 9-11, but that on the Islamist side, which with Piker is a two-fer.
DSA recently celebrated Cuban communist tyrant Fidel Castro. “DSA Commemorates 100 Years of Fidel,” it cheered on Aug. 13. “Fidel was an organizer, a fighter, and endures as a stalwart symbol of anti-imperialist struggle … ”
Other high-ranking DSA members are equally brazen:
DSA-NPC member Amy Wilhelm stated: “Our role ultimately is to facilitate our own empire’s failure.”
“We have a unique responsibility to act from the heart of empire, the belly of the beast,” NPC member Frances Gill pleaded. “The most important thing that we can do is take that empire down from within.”

“U.S. imperialism is not a thing that can be reformed away. It has to be overthrown through revolutionary struggle,” according to NPC’s Hazel Williams.
Still not convinced? Consider the DSA platform:

* “a 32-hour work week with full pay and benefits, and a living minimum wage” and “cancel all student debt.”
* ” Guarantee universal healthcare at no cost to individuals, including complete access to reproductive and gender-affirming care.”
* “Housing is a human right. Build new, publicly owned social housing” and “establish universal rent control.”
* “Demilitarize police departments, disempower police unions, and redirect funding to public services as steps towards fully abolishing the police and prison system … ”
* “Defund the Department of War. End all foreign wars and close overseas military bases.”
* “a free Palestine with Jerusalem as its capital. End all military and economic aid to Israel.”
* End deportations and “grant amnesty for all immigrants regardless of status … ”
* D.C. statehood + give Green Card holders the vote.
* “Abolish the Electoral College. Replace the President and Supreme Court with an executive and judiciary chosen by and subordinate to Congress.” Also, “Expand the House of Representatives, implement proportional representation and ranked choice voting in all elections, and abolish the Senate.”
* Establish public ownership of the largest corporations and essential industries” and “Enact aggressive wealth taxes on the richest individuals and corporations… ”
That would be just the beginning of the revolution. We’d better ensure the Constitution isn’t a suicide pact.
