The Left has demanded for several years that the Supreme Court membership must be expanded, but recently their cries have become more shrill than ever. Most recently, one notorious professor has decided that Democrats aren’t legitimate unless they are prepared to mandate this change:

‘When it comes to Senate races, there should be a litmus test,’ Mann said. ‘It isn’t just good enough to be a Democrat. You’ve got to be a Democrat who would be willing to expand the Supreme Court…There’s no way not to be partisan. There’s no way not to be political here. If you care about the environment, you’ve got to vote for the Democrats now.’

Who is this demanding professor? He is the professor at the University of Pennsylvania, Michael Mann, creator of the infamous “hockey stick” graph, who nearly ruined Mark Steyn’s life.

But Mann is not the only Democrat who is making outrageous demands of fellow Democrats. James Carville made clear his expectations if, by some chance, the Presidency is won by a Democrat, and the Senate and the House acquire Democrat majorities:

Mann’s advice is different from that of James Carville, who wants Democrats to hide this intended move from the public (which continues to oppose court packing). Carville told Democratic candidates: ‘If the Democrats win the presidency and both houses of Congress, I think on day one, they should expand the Supreme Court to 13. F—k it. Eat our dust. Don’t run on it. Don’t talk about it. Just do it.’

The Democrats think they know what is best for the country and continue to call for their dominance in every aspect of government. The Left has no interest in honoring the Constitution and the separation of powers, since it obstructs their strategies to control all three branches of government. In fact, this separation is meant to ensure a balance among the Executive Branch, the Legislative Branch and the Judicial Branch in their conducting the business of the federal government, so that no branch exceeds its Constitutional powers.

Yet House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Michigan Democrat Rep. Rashida Tlaib and Massachusetts Rep. Ayanna Pressley all insist that the Court be packed. Most recently, Rep. James Clyburn called for expanding the Court from nine to 13:

‘I had hoped that Clarence Thomas would follow the modern underpinnings of that Constitution of ours, but he has not done so,’ Clyburn continued, referring to the justice nominated by former President George H. W. Bush. ‘In fact, he decided to go all the way from an angry leftist to a very angry rightist.’

Clyburn misunderstands Thomas just like any progressive Leftie would. Justice Thomas has betrayed the “black Leftist team”: he refuses to go along with the rewriting of the Constitution. And in spite of Clyburn’s characterization of Justice Thomas as “a very angry rightist,” Thomas’ responses to decisions have been measured and direct.

Perhaps Clyburn is thinking of Thomas’ rage at his Senate confirmation hearing so many years ago, when he said they were conducting it like a “high -tech lynching.”

We will have to watch how much more demanding the Democrats will become. Clearly, they want to either abolish the Senate (if you listen to the Democratic Socialists), eliminate the Presidency, require that the Democrats take an oath to change the make-up of SCOTUS if they wish to run for office, be prepared to legislate from the bench, and continue to defame the current justices at every opportunity.

To paraphrase Benjamin Franklin: we are governed by a Constitution—if we can keep it.
