Way back in 1989, the Berlin Wall fell.
And most deep thinkers at the time thought it was ‘the end of history.’ Communism was discredited forever.

Didn’t turn out that way.
Within thirty years, communism was seeing the strangest of resurgences, particularly in the U.S., with Democratic Socialists of America leaders, wealth and all, beating conventional and deep-state Democrats in elections from New York City to Florida to Michigan to Los Angeles based on their insanely radical platforms. Most of these victories were driven by youthful voters. blissfully ignorant of any of the consequences or results of communism.

It’s the same principle as de-Nazification which followed in Europe shortly after the end of World War II. It should have followed after the fall of the Wall in Europe and the U.S., but everyone who was anyone thought it was ‘the end of history.’ The ground, though, was pretty fertile for a resurgence of this plague: Discarded leftists infiltrated academic institutions, all the way down to elementary school levels and no one stopped them. The West at the time was led by soft leftists — Tony Blair, Bill Clinton, Jeffrey Sachs (who botched the Soviet reconstruction, leading to Putin as a response), so again, no worries.
But history came back to bite.
And so much time has been lost a new generation has cropped up with absolutely zero knowledge of the horrors they are voting for, every time it’s tried. DeSantis recognizes this and is trying to repair the damage from this long holiday from history. I hope it has an impact: Florida, after all, is a magnet for productive and dynamic people and it will only get bigger as a state as a result of its good policies, which includes realism about history.

DeSantis would make a good U.S. president, for that alone.
