Reading about Eric Swalwell’s latest encounter with the FBI, it occurred to me that we’ve been seeing a lot of this kind of thing lately – namely, notable figures of the left getting some kind of well-earned comeuppance.

And that, playmates, is no illusion. Over just the past week or two, we have:

  • Eric Swalwell was waylaid by the FBI twice last weekend, the first time on Saturday at the San Francisco airport, when they seized his personal electronics, and the second time the next day when the Feds confiscated every other piece of electronic gear he owns at his home in D.C. It’s assumed that this has to do with the sexual misconduct accusations that have been plaguing him in recent months. The walls, as the legacy media likes to say, are closing in.
  • Jason Arday, a DEI-enhanced Cambridge professor, committed suicide shortly after being exposed as a plagiarist. His entire career, which included fantastic claims of overcoming poverty, childhood autism, and illiteracy to become a doctoral scholar in less than five years (along with running multiple marathons on a seriously broken leg), turns out to have been fabricated.
  • Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) executive Heidi Beirich was arrested on August 11 on federal fraud and money-laundering charges for $1.2 million in payments to her down-low lover, a neo-Nazi party official. This follows revelations concerning payoffs by the SPLC to racist and extremist organizations. DoJ investigations are continuing.
  • It was revealed this week that Michigan Democrat Senate candidate Abdulrahman Mohmmed El-Sayed’s mother and uncle both worked for an Islamist terror front organization, the Islamic American Relief Agency (IARA), that funded Hamas, the Taliban, and none other than Osama bin Laden himself in the ramp-up to 9/11. The IARA was declared a terrorist organization in 2004. No response from El-Sayed.
  • After leading in the polls by double digits for weeks, socialist candidate Francesca Hong was ignominiously defeated on August 11 in the Wisconsin Democrat gubernatorial primary, largely due to her refusal to repudiate previous statements calling for shutting down the police, the military, and the Senate. Media talking heads wept nationwide.
  • Alexander Vindman, one of the most repellent of the anti-Trump crowd, was defeated in Florida on August 18th by the somewhat singular Angie Nixon, whose major achievement up until now has been to run around the Florida State House shouting non sequiturs through a bullhorn. She’s also due in court in a month on a charge of tussling with the cops. And yet she beat a vet. Ain’t it just a sin.
  • Somalian Salman Ahmed Elmi, chosen by the Minnesota Department of Human Services as “Outstanding Refugee” for 2021, was booked on August 21 for his role in embezzling up to $4.5 million in Medicare payments from the Feds. He was also involved in running a sex-trafficking ring exploiting homeless girls.
  • Elmi accomplice Andrea Sampson was also arrested at the same time. Sampson owned several of the locations used both as fake health-care outlets and brothels by Elmi’s crew. She was at the time assistant attorney for Anoka County, Minnesota.

And that’s just the past couple weeks. Open it up a month or two, and we immediately encounter Graham Platner, the Maine senatorial candidate, SS admirer, and sexual predator, who was forced out of the Democrat primary last month. Little has been heard from him recently. He was replaced by Troy Jackson, who, it turns out, is married to his cousin. Just for the fun that’s in it, let’s throw in Anthony Fauci’s pleading the Fifth 111 times before Congress, a month and a half after ActBlue CEO Regina Wallace-Jones did the same thing.  (Just yesterday, ActBlue founder Matt DeBergalis also pled the Fifth before a closed congressional hearing. This is becoming a habit.)

Open it up again, and we find Ilhan Omar and her vanishing thirty million, Lil’ Timmy Walz’s there-are-no-bad-Somalians schtick, Adam Schiff’s mortgage difficulties, and Kamala’s drinking problem.

I’m sure there are plenty of others that I’ve overlooked. It’s easy to do since the legacy media, for some obscure reason, refuses to give these stories adequate coverage. Arday’s bogus career has gone unmentioned, as has El-Sayed’s family terrorism connections. The Heidi Beirich SPLC story just kind of went away. The Elmi-Sampson story remains local.

But that’s fine. Because one thing we know is that it’s not going to end. We’ll see new stories like this every week. It reminds me of what happens before a catastrophic volcanic explosion. A few tremors weeks apart, growing more frequent and severe until it’s a daily thing, some smoke, some ash, and then … say goodbye to Pompeii and Saint-Pierre.

This just ain’t granddad’s republic anymore. The Dems can’t get away with anything. The times, as the man said, they are a-changin’.
