In the latest news regarding Tribune of the People Hasan Piker, the heir to Lenin, Trotsky, Pol Pot, and Che has gone public with his pleas to the Democrat Party to protect him from the MAGA hordes howling menacingly in the hills overlooking his West Hollywood resistance compound.

“You have to literally, at some point — I know you don’t want to do this — defend me. I’m not this dangerous, toxic radical force…
“You should attack the form, you should attack the function, you should attack the very reason as to why the Republicans are trying to make this a salient line of attack, instead of allowing the Republicans to make this the number one f***ing issue, because every moment the Republicans are talking about this, and you’re leaning into it, is a f***ing another moment where you’re not talking about the other issues, and it will become a salient narrative, and it will be awful.”
Translated from Hasanspeak, what that means is, Piker has realized that the socialist coup is not going according to plan, that the conservative warheads are hitting close to home, and that he needs as much support as he can get — even support from the Democrat establishment, the party he usually refers to in terms like “I don’t give a f*** about the Democratic Party.” The same party that his pals in the DSA are trying to destroy.
At this point, Piker strongly reminds me of Internet pest Jack Doherty, who, for those unfamiliar with the name – and there’s no reason why you should be – is a streamer notorious for hassling people for the purpose of creating video clips. Doherty’s routine is to strike out at or shove passersby in malls, on the street, and elsewhere, while accompanied by his large bodyguard (named “Richie,” if I’m not mistaken), who leaps in at the first sign of retaliation. Doherty has been decked a couple times, but his cries of “Richie! Richie!” have always extricated him.

It served him for a while, gaining him millions in both followers and revenue. But karma caught up with Jack Doherty, first in the late 2024 crash of a $200 grand McLaren, then in a Miami Beach drug bust a year later. After that, Doherty’s streaming empire went into its death spiral, his channel banned from streaming sites and followers dropping off.
There are a lot of similarities between Piker and Doherty, and not just the hairstyle accurately termed the “broccoli” cut. Both have at best a vague notion of how the world actually works. Both have created online schticks based on arrogance, insolence, and belligerence. Both have followings made up in large part of people who are present to witness the inevitable collapse. Begging the Dems to save him is merely Piker’s version of wailing “Richie!”
Piker has probably gone too far out on a limb to start inching back now. He’s contracted the worst form of political leprosy — he’s become a liability. At best, he’ll be a footnote to another weird episode in American politics. Maybe he can start slapping people around in malls.
