One of my all-time favorite movie scenes is from Dirty Harry, the Clint Eastwood detective movie, where Harry Callahan (Eastwood) is drawing down on a suspect after a gunfight.

The criminal is within a hand’s reach of several weapons as Callahan towers above, aiming his weapon at the man’s head. He says, “The question you have to ask yourself, punk, is are you feeling lucky. This is a .44 Magnum, the world’s largest handgun. It will blow your head off. So, you are asking yourself, ‘Did he fire six shots or just five?’ In all the commotion, I’m not sure. So, punk, are you feeling lucky?”
The punk wasn’t feeling lucky and surrendered. But as Harry walked away, the man on the ground pleaded, “I gots to know. I gots to know!” Harry knew. He fired his empty gun at the man and walked away.
Imagine if one of Harry’s underlings or a spectator had yelled that the gun was empty. The punk would have grabbed for a weapon on the ground, and the movie might have needed to be renamed Bloody Harry. Fortunately for Harry, but not for the punk on the ground, that didn’t happen, and we had a happy outcome for Harry Callahan.
Today, that punk on the ground is Iran, and unfortunately, some treasonous, highly placed source is telling the media that our weapons are in low supply, and those less than patriotic media reports are surely being seen by Iran.
So the punk is feeling lucky. They are drawing this war out, a war they are sure to lose. Their already stupid strategy is being bolstered by what can surely be called treasonous leaks to the media. Why would anyone with the best intentions for the U.S. do such a thing?

I believe, like so many other things, that a major factor is hatred of President Donald Trump — TDS — and frankly, I’m beyond tired of this nonsense. For most of our history, the media felt some responsibility towards the national good. Woodward and Bernstein changed that with the Watergate lynching of Richard Nixon. Since those Watergate days, the media have been all about “getting” anyone they can, any way they can, national interests be damned. The media hangmen will show some restraint when it comes to Democrat miscreants, but never to a Republican. They will, in fact, create false narratives to bring down the men with the elephants on their lapels, as evidenced by all the attempts to destroy Donald Trump.
The media will always get away with reporting whatever they learn, regardless of consequences. Although they are destined to go unpunished for their behavior, the same need not be said for those leaking the information. I hope with every fiber of my being that those individuals are uncovered and tried for treason. They deserve it. Maybe that outcome would uncover a bit of conscience in the media as they realize what their release of the information to the public has caused. But whom am I kidding?
Today, Dirty Donald (sorry, Mr. President) has Iran in his crosshairs, and he knows that even if our weapons supply is a bit down, there are plenty of bullets left in the gun to finish the job. He is giving the punk nation of Iran a chance to save itself from decapitation. The Iranian leaders have already shown themselves to be duplicitous and mendacious. In plainer words, they are lying scum. When their head finally explodes, as it is destined to do, I hope the leakers and media are happy with all the extra, unnecessary death they have caused.
I don’t believe there is any hope for the people who leak secret information for whatever reason. But maybe our nation’s journalism schools will consider some courses in patriotism for their students. I would love to see that happen, but I’m not going to hold my breath.
