After trashing Spencer Pratt’s supporters as ‘MAGA Republicans’ in the primaries like it was an insult, DSA Los Angeles mayoral contender Nithya Raman is singing a different tune: She claims now that she’s got a lot in common with Pratt supporters.

According to Vanity Fair:
But rather than writing off the frustrations that fueled Pratt’s campaign, she believes there is meaningful overlap between Pratt and Raman supporters. “[We have] to try and tap into a very nontraditional coalition,” Raman tells me a couple days after the CicLAvia event.
“The success of Spencer Pratt’s campaign showed how much frustration there is here in the city of Los Angeles. And while I think that he was not the right candidate for this moment, I’m also in this race because I’m frustrated and because I think things can be better.”
Not the right candidate for this moment? A guy who got his home burned down in the Palisades fire and was personally going through all that the rest of the 7,000 homeowners in that neighborhood and tens of thousands more burned out in the Altadena neighborhood was somehow not the right man ‘for this moment;?
And never mind this exchange:
Spencer Pratt just introduced a new meme! Check out his reaction when the communist chick calls him “MAGA Republican” at the LA mayoral debate.

…which made Spencer pretty famous.
The gushing Vanity Fair profile, designed to swing the race to her over Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, was a disgusting exercise in media malfeasance.
Vanity Fair tried hard to restyle her into a ‘moderate,’ and distance her from her DSA past, ignoring her ‘defund the police’ stance as a budgetary vote, failing to mention her bid to arrest the president of Toyota for making cars with easy-to-steal catalytic converters instead of the actual thieves, failing to mention the $60 million she shelled out to the homeless industrial complex in exchange for … three homeless apartments, failing to question her plan to turn single family home neighborhoods into towering highrise apartments, as if people were moving to, instead of fleeing Los Angeles, and glossing over her ‘bums at the schoolhouse door’ stances, the latter of which was just casually mentioned like it was a room decoration, without comment.

They also tried to distance her from Zohran Mamdani with a flip quote from some passerby, and tout her bike lane enthusiasms, an irrelevant, boring issue if there ever was one, given Los Angeles’s problems. Oh, and they used one of Nithya’s talking points claiming that as homelessness spiked 8 percent in Los Angeles (with her the chair of the homeless commission), her own neighborhood saw 49 percent less homelessness, as if pushing the homeless to another part of town to keep one’s own neighborhood safe and bum-free was something to brag about. It was just so easy to see through.
What’s happening here is that Nithya realizes she doesn’t have enough votes to win against Bass. She was able to to cheat Spencer Pratt out of the second place finish in the primaries by mobilizing her army of homeless-industrial-complex NGOs to harvest ballots from bums on Skid Row in exchange for dollar bills, cigarettes and drugs, and just keep sending them in by mail well after election day until the right total was reached, but the feds are onto that scam now. Bass, who has political power as well as interests in seeing to it that Nithya does not win, might just have the incentive to quietly help them expose that racket, meaning, it’s unlikely Nithya can pull the same dirty trick again on Bass in the November finale. And without the bums, she wasn’t even able to get past Spencer. How does she expect to get past Bass?
So now her game is pure Eddie Haskell — to sweet-talk the Spencer Pratt voters into coming over to her side; the same people she demonized as MAGA simply for wanting the bums cleared from their schoolhouse entrances and the fire rebuilding permits issued, callously dismissing their concerns as Trumpthink. Remember this?
Crazy council woman Nithya Raman doesn’t care if homeless drug addicts are shooting up, defecating, and exposing themselves to your kids right in front of their schools. I can’t imagine a more repulsive candidate to vote for, even against the hated Bass. Right now, the best option for Spencer voters is to sit the mayoral election out, leaving vast swathes of empty parts of town with few ballots turned in at all in the mayor’s race and vote like heck for Steve Hilton for governor. There won’t be any difference in Bass or Raman, and Raman’s bid to court Spencer voters, while offering them absolutely nothing, is appalling. I am pretty confident they won’t go for it, given her electoral shenanigans, and her insults directed at them. I hope they make her cry again on election night even if the distasteful result is Bass taking another term.
