There’s nothing worse than a leftist defending his inevitably disastrous record.
Which brings us to Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass’s attempt to assumre Angelenos that all is hunky dory on her watch:

For the first time ever, Los Angeles has seen a two-year decline in homelessness. We have so much more work to do, but these stories matter. pic.twitter.com/VDcjtHSrsm

Earlier this year, she claimed this:
I applaud the Council for supporting my plan to hire more officers. When I took office, the LAPD was shrinking. Since day one, I’ve been fighting to recruit and hire more officers while also investing in prevention and intervention strategies that help keep communities safe. My… pic.twitter.com/7KPLIBvxVT

Los Angeles is still 500 police officers fewer than when she entered office.
It follows what she was claiming earlier this year:
LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Mayor Karen Bass on Tuesday announced a significant decrease in violent crime in Los Angeles, highlighting new statistics that show sharp declines in homicides both citywide and in neighborhoods historically affected by gang violence.
Bass joined members of the L.A. City Council and community leaders to release the updated crime data, which includes a 27% drop in homicides in areas known as Gang Reduction and Youth Development zones – or GRYD zones.
Those are areas long recognized as among the hardest hit by gang-related violence, according to the city.
Citywide, homicides fell 19% last year, reaching their lowest level since 1966.
“It took many, many years to reach this point here, where I can proudly stand up and say that we have had a very significant reduction in crime,” Bass said at a morning news conference.
LA Mayor Karen Bass disapproves of President Trump’s crackdown on crime in Washington, D.C., saying it mainly impacts “black and brown youth.”

Cause. Effect.
And if people are no longer reporting crime, because they know the cops will do nothing, that’s not the same as crime being down. It probably means it’s up. And black and brown people are harmed most of all by the lack of police enforcement of crime, which doesn’t help her case.
And people wonder why celebrities are leaving LA in droves because a dummbasss Karen Bass who burned the city to the ground would not give LAPD any power to make arrest even when crime rate is going through the roof with record home break-ins and god knows what else. pic.twitter.com/blRH9gMKPr

Her allies (who live in gated communities out in the hills) are repeating her talking points:
Magic Johnson endorses Karen Bass for re-election as LA Mayor; claims she has decreased homelessness and crime.

Johnson lives in a gated community out in the hills and is unaffected by crime. So it’s pretty easy for him to say it’s down.
Ally Kamala Harris does, too.

Her media echo chamber is on the case, too:
L.A. is safer than it’s been in decades, but crime is an issue dominating the mayor’s race https://t.co/zxBoOEtXvM

Which not only isn”t supported by the evidence of voters’ own eyes, it raises some curious questions:
I just can’t understand why 100 restaurants closed in LA last year. pic.twitter.com/ONtJmAXM0D
— BORED (@BoredElonMusk) May 25, 2026
Why is she doing this? It’s basically gaslighting, telling voters blue is red, which doesn’t help her. It didn’t help San Francisco’s now-recalled district attorney, Chesa Boudin, who was recalled by voters as he told them all the crime they were seeing in his town was in their heads, and it’s unlikely to help Bass, who continues to lose ground in the polls.
Perhaps this is one answer:
Karen Bass has gone so long with ZERO challenges whatsoever, she got very comfortable with just breaking the law, constantly, with zero concern for repercussions.
Those happy days are over…— Mann Made Cinema (@Hotshot_Movie) May 25, 2026
Whatever it is, it’s not going to work. Bass’s record as mayor is abysmal and she literally can’t defend herself. That’s obvious enough in her pathetic responses.
