But the Democrat party indeed is a dumpster fire of chaos, unpaid bills, and flung objects, now that so many sources of funding have vanished in the Trump era. No wonder they are putting out so many freakish candidates. One can only wonder how long such a mess will last.

The Democratic Party is so short on cash that leaders at its headquarters have undertaken a new gambit to mask the severity of the problems: asking vendors not to send bills until after the midterm elections.
The bookkeeping maneuver, which was described by three people briefed on it, is the latest sign of financial duress for the Democratic National Committee and its embattled leader as money troubles threaten to undercut Democratic momentum with 100 days until the midterms.
So much is going politically right for Democrats these days. President Trump’s approval is down, gas prices are up and an unpopular war with Iran drags on. But dysfunction and debt inside one of the party’s key institutions — which is getting crushed in fund-raising by its Republican counterpart — are creating rising anxiety for top Democrats.
Turns out they all hate each other.
Its chairman, one Ken Martin, is gripped with fear he will lose his job and doesn’t trust anyone. He got mad and threw a phone at an aide’s desk, who, naturally, was a karen and made a complaint with human resources. Republicans have hundreds of millions in PAC and party resources, while his miserable party is $2 million in debt, probably having spent their own money the way they spend public money. He’s scared of internal coups. He’s scared to go on T.V. His release of a report on why they lost the 2024 election was a mess. He fears leaks. He addresses staff like this:

“My success is your success,” he added at another point in the meeting. “So the weaker I am, the weaker all of you are.”
He sounds like Don Knotts in The Ghost and Mr. Chicken.
The money problem is the big problem, the Times reports. Kamala Harris blew a billion dollars in donations and still ended up in the hole and now the donors are disillusioned. Martin can’t talk to his finance chief, who fears he’ll be fired by Martin, so that’s two of them.
In any case, it doesn’t seem like a great setup for Democrats. Left unmentioned, of course, was the problems with ActBlue and its foreign donors, and the shutdown of USAID, which often funneled money to Democrats through the NGOs financed by the federal agency. Kamala, of course, was a one-woman buzzsaw on Democrat finances.
It’s all happening in an election year where Democrats are sure they will win. Maybe they will, but it would be a fine thing to see Republicans leverage this misery to their advantage, and for this wretched party to run out of other people’s money first.
