More idiocy emerged from the Zohran Mamdani camp when it decided to tamper with the map of ethnic enclaves in NYC. With all the challenges facing the city, why create potential conflict over this city map? There was one thing that a lot of people missed when they focused (rightly) on Little Italy’s exclusion from the map, and that was the inclusion of a new region called “Little Palestine.”

Mamdani and his team were clearly acting intentionally. They must have been annoyed by the absence of the “Palestinian people” on the map, so they proceeded to modify the map in a way that they thought was fair.
Give me a break.
By adding “Little Palestine” to the map (which is absurd, since there is no country of Palestine), the Mamdani crew clearly meant to antagonize NYC’s Jewish population, which has already endured many of Mamdani’s questionable policies. The Jews were also removed from the map in the process:
The distinction given to recently arrived Muslim immigrant communities and the erasure of historic and important non-Muslim groups is virtually a carbon copy of the ludicrous claims by Palestinians and their supporters that the Palestinians should be acknowledged as the exclusive claimants of what is now Israel and that the Jews are recent foreign interlopers whose presence should be nullified and erased. It is of a piece with Mamdani’s call for the liberation of Palestine ‘from the river to the sea’; that is, the extirpation of Israel and its Jews.
The Mamdani version of the history of the Palestinians is a lie as well. The tired argument that the Palestinians were the original people in that part of the world, and the Jews infiltrated their land, is also a lie:
Islam didn’t even exist for most of that time. Mary was, of course, a Jewish woman. The Jewish presence in the land, even when diminished by forced exile imposed by various conquering empires, was unbroken throughout that entire history. The Muslim presence only began in the late seventh century, when Arab forces seized the area from the Byzantine Christian empire that then controlled it.

Not only did Islam not exist, but neither did a Palestinian state. The British controlled the land under a mandate of the League of Nations. When the United Nations tried to divide the land into two states, the Arabs rejected the proposal, and continued to do so over the years.
Mamdani stated that some groups would be added to the city map after his changes, including Little Italy. He said nothing about the other groups he might add (such as the Jews). If the map was not complete, why would he publicize it? Was he so anxious to take another poke at the Jewish community?
The mayor is likely to pursue other opportunities to humiliate and punish the Jewish community in the months to come. But perhaps he should think about those actions before he puts his foot in his mouth again:
Irish New Yorkers noted the city list does not include their neighborhoods in Woodlawn and Breezy Point. Others questioned why places like the Hasidic section of Williamsburg was [sic] left off the map.
‘I think if Mamdani is the type of guy that wants to highlight every single immigrant group, and say that this is a city built by immigrants, then you better do a good job at highlighting every single immigrant group in this city,’ said Andrew Z, a Jewish New Yorker who lives in Little Ukraine, which did make the list.
