In Suicidal Empathy, Dying to be Kind, Gad Saad describes the suicidal empathy of the West toward fundamentalist Muslim migrants who believe it is their duty to subjugate or kill the non-believer. Gad Saad experienced the consequences of this suicidal empathy firsthand while growing up in Lebanon. Lebanon allowed in tens of thousands of Palestinian terrorists and refugees who fled Jordan after their uprising was crushed by King Hussein’s forces in an event known as Black September. death awaited you at every millisecond of the day. For example, my parents would tell me, “You can go out and play outside, but don’t pass this particular line, because that would open you up to the eyesight of the snipers that are on this building.
Unfortunately, the West did not learn from the experience of the Lebanese. Western suicidal empathy results in Westerners voting for open borders that allow in hostile migrants. It results in abolishing prisons that could be used to incarcerate those migrants. It results in defunding police who could arrest those migrants, it leads sanctuary cities to divert funds to support illegals and to states that bankrupt themselves to support illegal immigrants, and in protestors who interfere with ICE attempts to deport violent immigrants. Suicidal empathy is one of the reasons voters in NYC, a city in which 3000 people were killed on 9/11 by Muslim terrorists, elected a terrorist supporting Muslim to be mayor.
There is another form of empathy, which is beneficial and self-preserving. Empathy toward the victims of Muslim terrorism is self-preserving because it would make people less likely to be for open borders that allow Muslim terrorists to become their neighbors. It would make people less likely to vote for Muslim politicians who are terrorist sympathizers. That is a major reason those who are for Islamic power in the United States make war on American self-preserving empathy toward the Israeli victims of Islamic terror. The war on empathy toward Israel and the Jews is a very effective weapon against the West.
An example of the attack on self-preserving empathy is a recent statement by Mayor Mamdani of New York. He accused members of the American Israel Public
Chevalier, a Haitian convert to Islam, cofounded the Columbia University Apartheid Divest (CUAD) organization, which demanded that Columbia University divest from Israel. Chevalier spoke against Israel at a rally in Times Square on October 8, one day after the atrocities of October 7.
Wendy Sacks, an American filmmaker, said:
The second I understood the depravity of what happened and the barbarism I thought the entire globe would be in mourning and not only was it silent, there was jubilation.
Wendy Sacks created a documentary about that jubilation called October 8. American columnist Dan Senor spoke in Wendy’s documentary. He said:
It was October 8. There were still Hamas terrorists in communities in Southern Israel. There was still fighting going on. Israel was still counting the numbers of the dead and the mutilated and the raped and the kidnapped and there’s a protest against Israel in Times Square. Rather than the outrage being directed against those slaughtering the Jews, the outrage was being directed at the Jews…
Chevalier was one of the people who directed outrage toward the Jews. The election of Chevalier is a great example of how those who target empathy toward the Jews and Israel are a threat to the West.

CUAD, the organization Chevalier cofounded, posted “Death to America” on X. Her organization also posted its mission as follows:
We are Westerners fighting for the total eradication of Western civilization… Our Intifada is an internationalist… As the fascism ingrained in the American consciousness becomes ever more explicit and irrefutable, we seek community and instruction from militants… in the fight against tyranny and domination which undergird the imperialist world order.
On social media, Chevalier bragged about being a Communist and praised Stalin. She boasted about wiping her dirty hands on the American flag.
Muslims often attack their critics as racists. Chevalier is a racist. In a 2019 tweet she criticized black men who engage in interracial relationships.
She opposes deportation of illegal immigrants, even those convicted of violent crimes. This would make it impossible to deport violent Muslims.
Gad Saad explained how empathy for Israelis and Jews is under attack. He wrote:
Since October 7, the world has witnessed an astounding amount of gaslighting meant to ensure that the Jewish people are never the recipient of any well-deserved empathy. These include the following positions: October 7 never happened; it did happen but was greatly exaggerated in terms of the number of victims, and in any case it was fully justified in light of the occupation; it did happen but most (all) of the victims were killed by the Israelis in order to garner faux empathy from the world.
Gad Saad also wrote that inflation of the number of casualties was used to destroy empathy toward Israel. These lies, together with the accusation that Israel is killing children, has been very effective in turning the West against Israel. In fact, Mamdani, when confronted with his description of AIPAC as monsters, said that “We’re talking about a status quo where children are being killed on a daily basis.”
Prior to October 7, Israel went to great lengths to avoid conflict with the Arabs in Gaza. Israel uprooted every Israeli who lived in Gaza against their will. Israel let Gazans come into Israel for jobs and medical care. After October 7, it became clear to many overly empathetic Israelis that they could not live in peace with Hamas. They realized that they couldn’t hide behind a wall and that the only way to protect themselves and their children was to destroy Hamas.
Despite this tragic fact, a growing number of Americans hold unfavorable views of Israel, according to the Pew Research Center. The West needs to promote empathy toward Israel and the Jews for its own self-preservation.
