The Texas Democrats held their state convention in Corpus Christi in South Texas. They brought their pro-abortion message to a city named after the body of Christ, their climate change serenade to a great city with six oil refineries employing thousands, and their gender confusion to the birthplace of Farrah Fawcett. No one looks at a photo of Farrah and believes that we have six genders.

A couple of things happened.
First, Rep. Jasmine Crockett and Rep.-elect Collin Allred didn’t attend. Jasmine lost to Talarico in 2026 and Collin to Senator Cruz in 2024. Not sure why two prominent black leaders were missing, but some political observers noticed a lack of party unity in Corpus.
Second, we heard one heck of a speech that will be repeated in lots of GOP ads this fall. Here it goes:
The Democratic nominee for land commissioner, Ben Flores, who announced his battle with leukemia this month, also shared that he is in remission. Flores spoke in support of Talarico, saying Republicans love to “come after one of us, singling us out.”
“Next time they say that James is trans, we’re all trans. When they say James is a gay tofu-eating vegan, we’re all gay tofu-eating vegans. And when they say James is going to hell, we’ll say we’re all going to hell!”

“But the joke’s on them. After 30 years under Republican leadership, we already know what living in hell is like,” Flores quipped.
Living in hell? I guess that’s why so many businesses move here. Or why we’re projected to add 4 more seats after the 2030 census.
The Democrats took off their mask in Corpus, and all gay tofu vegans were happy for the mention.
