Let me say upfront that I am not into watching the WNBA, or women’s sports in general. It’s what happens when you grow up playing catch with your brother, and your little sister was more interested in Mary Poppins and Miss Universe than girls playing sports. Furthermore, having three sons also meant that my interest was in watching the Dallas Cowboys rather than the Dallas Wings of the WNBA. I respect the ladies’ skills, but that’s it.

A couple years ago, one of my sons mentioned that a certain player, Caitlin Clark, was quite a basketball player. I watched her college game and agreed that the young woman had skills and could impact the league. I told my son that it reminded me of Lew Alcindor getting drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks years ago and how that changed that franchise.
And then Caitlin goes to the WNBA, and all hell breaks loose. Check this video when a player goes after her!

I don’t know if the league is populated by angry lesbians. My take is that they are populated by a lot of stupid people who can’t appreciate who is filling the seats or getting young women to turn the TV on. In other words, who in the world ever heard of the WNBA before Caitlin joined them?
So here is a bit of advice to whoever runs the league. A foul is part of the game, but we are not seeing that. What I’ve seen on TV clips are players who want to hurt Caitlin. I am also seeing a lot of young women crossing the line and turning the game into battery. Maybe I am an old-fashioned man, but watching girls get this violent is not what I enjoy about sports.
So the WNBA better protect Caitlin, or they will become more insignificant than they already are.
