Like that song sort of goes, there goes my baby with someone new.  Unlike the song’s story, we are happy rather than blue.

The Bill here is none other than Bill Kristol, who once spoke with authority and vigor.  Yes he did, until Trump Derangement Syndrome nailed him to an MSNBC chair.  He went from reasonable suspicion of Trump the candidate to idiotic fears of this or that.

Here is Bill’s story:

In the most stunning revelation since it was confirmed Liberace liked the dudes, Bill Kristol — neocon, publisher, and one-time Republican operative extraordinaire — has announced he’s now a Democrat.

Kristol is best known both for his punditry in print and on various cable news hits, as well as publishing The Weekly Standard, long known as one of the pillars of the conservative establishment.

However, while the conservative establishment generally didn’t like Donald Trump as he became a serious candidate during the 2016 cycle, Kristol had an anaphylactic reaction to suddenly being displaced by the populist rabble. Fast-forward 10 years and the professional NeverTrumper has become yet another professional mouthpiece who has decided he’s so much of a Not That Kind of a Republican™ that he’s not a Republican.

By the way, I had not heard of Liberace in a long time, and the reference is hilariously right on.  We just need Bill like Liberace on a piano with a big candle playing some tragic march.  They used to do that in the old USSR before breaking bad news on Radio Moscow.

Kristol has his reasons, and so it goes in a free country.  Back in 2016, I had my doubts about Trump too.  I wasn’t sure he was a true Republican conservative and even speculated that his candidacy was a tactic to elect Hillary Clinton.  His ways were also a bit unusual, like calling people names from Little Marco to whatever he called Ted Cruz.

Then he governed and we got a strong economy, sensible foreign policy, and a 6-3 Supreme Court.  I liked it and was eager to keep that kind of governing around longer.  It didn’t help when I saw the other side go insane trying to destroy the man.

So when did we lose Kristol?  Maybe he bought into the Hitler dictator meme, or maybe the threat to democracy stuff.  All nonsense, because a real dictator would have thrown Kristol in jail on day one along with his MSNBC pals.  I know a bit about dictatorship (Castro), and his critics didn’t get to do a lot of criticizing.  Real dictators don’t allow that!

So goodbye Bill.  It was nice to have you around, but sometimes parting ways is best, especially when the one saying bye is so angry that they turn into a nuisance.

Enjoy hanging around with the angry ones and tell them to rewrite that autopsy starting with using the spell check.
