This October 7 will mark the third anniversary of the horrific attacks on Israel by Hamas. Twelve hundred people were killed, primarily Israeli citizens, which made it the deadliest day for Israel since its independence. Additionally, 240 people were taken hostage during the attack, and those alive have since been released. Yet, since October 7, 2023, antisemitism has significantly risen globally. That includes increased violence and hostility toward Jewish communities.

Below is an interview from different outlets that delve into the threats against the Jews.
Clara and Julia Kuperberg’s new documentary, Hollywood and Hitler, explores the influence the Nazis exerted on American movie studios in the 1930s. It focuses on how some American film studios cooperated with the Nazis and highlights certain groups and individuals who tried to expose them. It is relevant today because of all the propaganda being spread by pro-Hamas groups after October 7 that has created major antisemitism abroad and here in America. It can be viewed on streaming.
When asked if their documentary is relatable to October 7, they replied,
We are French. We live in LA, but we’re French. So we go back and forth with friends, and one of the reasons we wanted to come here to the U.S. is because in France, it was getting very, very hard and very dangerous for Jews, especially right after the October 7 attacks. It’s very sad what’s happening right now in Europe, and it’s getting worse.
We’re very concerned, and we are not very optimistic about the future, to be honest. Our family were deported, and part of our family went to Auschwitz. I was saying it’s like being in 1933 in France again, with this feeling that Jews must hide the fact that they’re Jewish and are scared to celebrate the holidays. There is an attack and assault every day on a Jew in France, in Paris. I’m talking also about Belgium or Spain or even in the U.K. Everywhere, it’s like they were all waiting for October 7 to happen to be antisemitic again.
The Kuperbergs believe there is a similarity between their film and what is happening today.
The victims of October 7 were ignored. I mean, there were babies that were killed. They were mothers who were pregnant, their infants pulled from their stomach. This is unbelievable. It’s like being in World War II again. It’s people hiding their mezuzah, what Jews put on their doorside. We were targeted as Jews. We didn’t want to stay in a country where we are not safe.
Our father keeps telling us all the time, “It’s going to happen again. You must be ready to move, to quit, to leave friends, to leave Europe, you must be ready for that. And you need to get prepared and to be ready.” And it’s like they were all waiting for an October 7 to happen so they could blame Israel. They use Israel to be antisemitic.
The same goes for the Democrat socialists in this country who have no policy except “Israel commits genocide.” That’s their policy. That’s the only thing. The U.N. just said that it was not a starvation in Gaza, so that was propaganda.

Hollywood is the biggest propaganda machine out there. Hollywood is like a tool. It’s the perfect tool for these people. What is scaring me the most is that we need to remember it, how quick it can happen again. How the Nazis tried to use propaganda for their own purposes here in the U.S. and so is Hamas.
Yishay Ishi Ron, an Israeli combat veteran, has written two books, DOG and The Girl Who Rode the White Lion. He feels that DOG relates to October 7. The theme is the horror of war and what happens when the war is over. He commented,
A lot of the public attention in Israel now is the aftereffects of October 7, because so many civilians and soldiers experienced severe PTSD. Some people say that at least one fourth of the population in Israel now has it. Of course, you can see it with soldiers committing suicide, so many, something like 140 since October 7. Everybody in Israel knows a family that was kidnapped or injured or killed or their son or daughter was killed in the war.
PTSD is so common now, and I think that when people read DOG, they should understand deep in their hearts what it means to have PTSD and how it can pull them easily from being a functional, normal person to someone who cannot deal with life. They are so haunted by what they’ve seen or what they heard. So this is the connection to October 7.
The Girl Who Rode the White Lion is a novel based on the true story of a Jewish acrobat named Irene Danner who pleaded for those in the circus to hide her. This quote in the book can also refer to today’s antisemitism: “The Nazis taught us to stand up for ourselves. They taught us that no one in the world would volunteer to save a Jew.” Yishay said that “on the contrary, many would step up to kill a Jew just for fun. I think that many a Jew was shocked that their non-Jewish friends looked the other way after October 7. I was not very surprised. Nothing changed. Jews were persecuted, everywhere in the world, in all times.”
All those interviewed agree that it is important to remember how quickly it can happen again. It’s been three years since October 7, but no one can have a dialogue with those claiming that Israel committed genocide. As Clara Kuperberg noted, “they just don’t listen. They just want to be antisemitic. They all like the common ground of being antisemitic. That is crazy. That is totally crazy.”
No one should ever forget how Hamas on that day raped women, burned babies alive, and beheaded men. It is Hamas whose charter calls for the annihilation of all Jews everywhere, who are the ones committing genocide, not Israel.
