Eden Prairie, Minnesota, is a suburb of Minneapolis, a city with a 2026 population of 62,790. It used to be a peaceful, placid place where no one was afraid of being shot in the streets or at a homecoming football game. That changed this year:

Bill Glahn wrote earlier about the shooting last night in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. Eden Prairie has one of the top high school football programs in the U.S., and last night was its homecoming game. The game was suspended and the crowd evacuated from the stadium after shots were fired, wounding two:

Authorities were initially silent on the nature of the shooting, but they didn’t fool anyone: everyone immediately knew it was a Somali gang shootout. Somali gang violence has become a major problem in the Twin Cities suburbs.
Eden Prairie was once solidly Republican territory, but after large numbers of Somalis were settled there, it flipped blue. Now the town is seeing gang violence, something that previously would have been unheard of.
How many Somalis?
The Somali population of Eden Prairie is 3.2%, while neighboring Minneapolis is 4.81%. Local police estimate Somali gang membership in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area at around 300, 98% of whom they think are Somali.
Every Democratic politician immediately chimed in to try to make the story about guns rather than Somali gang violence, but once again, no one is fooled. Firearms have been around for what, 600 years? And there has never been any shortage of firearms in Eden Prairie. It isn’t guns that are new, it is violent gangs.
Outbreaks of Somali gang gunfire haven’t been limited to football games. Days later, this happened in nearby Bloomington:

A community meeting was held at Edina City Hall Monday night to discuss recent violent incidents in the city and surrounding areas.
The recent incidents include shots fired on the campus of Edina’s Our Lady of Grace church and school late last month, which the police chief later said involved Somalis, and a double shooting at Eden Prairie High School’s homecoming game this past Friday, which that city’s police chief later confirmed was Somali gang violence.
Hours after the meeting ended, Eden Prairie police confirmed that shots had been fired in yet another incident in their city Monday [10-05-26] night.
And again on Tuesday:
Additionally, police are investigating a shooting in Bloomington that took place early Tuesday. Sources say that shooting was also related to Somali gangs.
This is what Normal, sane Americans have come to expect of Minnesota Democrats:
Monday’s community meeting in Edina, framed as a “community conversation addressing gun violence,” began with a long prologue from Mayor Jim Hovland acknowledging the “Somali youth gang-type problem” in the metro area. Hovland followed up with comments about a potential “community cohesion problem” and urged people to avoid associating the violence with other people with Somali identity. “Somali families and other residents are understandably concerned” over being stereotyped or targeted, Hovland said.

Commenters at the meeting—Somalis—wanted officials not to mention Somali involvement. Others were mad as hell at feckless officials blaming the shootings on “gun violence, including this man:

Bill Glahn at Powerline comments:
From the U.K. Daily Mail,
Angry residents of once-peaceful Minneapolis suburb blast leaders for failing to tackle Somali gang chaos… after they proposed soccer program to solve the crisis.
Midnight soccer. The Daily Mail reports,
Angry locals demanded accountability for the shootings, which remain unsolved, on Monday night during a packed meeting at Edina City Hall.
One man, local resident Jared Scribner, speaks truth to power,
Scribner chastised city leaders for their response to the shooting at the park, demanding greater accountability.
‘When gunfire happened at Yancey Park, the city’s response was to talk about having a meeting with Somali community leaders, and mentioning a new soccer program,’ he said. ‘Really?’
Of course it was from The Daily Mail, a British media source. The Minnesota Star Tribune, as usual, has a leftist narrative to uphold.
Let’s consider how effective “a new soccer program” might be. Such a program would require an enormous police presence, not only in and around the soccer pitch, but in the parking lot and surrounding area. They’d have to frisk every Somali player repeatedly throughout each game, and every spectator, and search every vehicle.
Of course, Minnesota leftist politicians would never allow that, so soccer games would inevitably descend into gang shootouts, and the police could show up later or not at all, which would be safer.
This is what happens when you import third-world cultures who have no idea of civilized behavior, but access to and a ready willingness to use modern weapons. Combine that with Democrat governments, and there are no sane solutions, but lots of damage and bodies.
