Is there a non-U.S. citizen occupying a seat representing U.S. citizens in the U.S. Congress?

That’s the mind-boggling question raised with Rep. Ilhan Omar’s citizenship now under scrutiny in the wake of this week’s federal raid on her residence, in what officials descibed as a criminal case.

According to the Washington Post, which tried to downplay it as a paperwork matter:

The federal investigation that prompted the search of Rep. Ilhan Omar’s D.C. residence on Monday centers on claims that she or her late father may have lied on decades-old immigration paperwork to secure legal status and eventually U.S. citizenship, three people familiar with the matter said.

Omar — a Minnesota Democrat who was born in Somalia and fled civil war there with her family before eventually immigrating to the United States in 1995 — has repeatedly rejected such allegations, which have circulated in conservative media for years. She dismissed them again in a statement Monday as “baseless lies and smear campaigns.”

The story has several layers, each more sordid than the last.

Number one, shortly after a local Somali-American political rival reported that her claim to U.S. citizenship, derived from her father’s attainment of U.S. citizenship, because she was 17, was problematic. He said that Omar’s official records showed that she was 18, and therefore didn’t qualify for that derived citizenship status in the U.S.

The Minnesota pol has long claimed that she received what’s known as derivative citizenship through her father, Nur Omar Mohamed, who she said became a naturalized citizen in 2000, five years after coming into the country from war-torn Somalia.

“I became a citizen actually before I turned 18,” she told The Intercept in a September 2018 interview. “My father became a citizen and so I got my citizenship through that process.”

What followed afterward was a series of birthdate changes, each of them making her a year younger.

The Washington Post buried that detail at the bottom of the story, but the New York Post did not, writing:

WASHINGTON — Rep. Ilhan Omar’s staff helped get her birthdate changed in public records once the Minnesota Democrat was elected to Congress in 2018, a switch that has since spurred frenzied accusations that she misrepresented her age to secure US citizenship.

The alteration could offer a big clue as to what federal immigration agents were searching for when they raided her DC home Monday: If the congresswoman is actually one year older than she’s claimed to be, that would mean she couldn’t have legally become a US citizen in 2000, critics contend.

Omar’s birthdate had been listed in the Minnesota Legislative Reference Library as Oct. 4, 1981, as well as on reference sites such as Wikipedia and in media outlets like the BBC, for the entire time she served in the state House and for several months into her congressional term.

But the congresswoman’s staff moved to shift the date forward by one year in May 2019 after a video from a political opponent went viral that claimed Omar was fibbing about her age, according to emails reviewed by The Post.

Then it gets worse: Her dad didn’t qualify for refugee status, meaning, he didn’t qualify for U.S. citizenship. He apparently lied on his application forms about not being a part of the persecuting class of Somalia which created its civil war. Turns out he was suspected of being a warlord and henchman in the homicidal regime of Mohammed Siad Barre, whose thugs massacred 200,000 people and got Somalia into a full blown civil war.

The New York Post, in a separate story, found an Oxford University scholar who said he knew the details:

Rep. Ilhan Omar’s late father, Nur Omar Mohamed, wasn’t who he purported to be, a source told The Post.

The Minnesota congresswoman — whose home was raided by the feds on Monday as part of an ongoing criminal fraud investigation — has long described her father as an “educator” who fled his country’s devastating civil war alongside millions of others and arrived in America with his family as a refugee in 1995.

But, an expert scholar exclusively told The Post that Nur “misrepresented himself as a refugee” to US authorities when he was really a prominent military commander in the Somalia dictatorship that killed as many as 200,000 people.

“He was a full colonel in Siad Barre’s military regime,” historian and Oxford University doctoral researcher Mohamed Haji Ingiriis told The Post. “Ilhan’s father was never an educator.

He added, “Nur Said was a military officer who was loyal to the regime until the end. He was part and parcel of those who caused and created the mayhem they ‘fled’ to live comfortably in the United States.”

And it gets worse still: There are reports that the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services has found no records at all that the Somali colonel ever filed for U.S. citizenship.

AJ Kern has done extensive research on Ilhan Omar’s citizenship verification. When an adult parent gains citizenship through the naturalization process, their minor children ‘derive’ citizenship through that parent. Since minors cannot naturalize independently and adults cannot derive citizenship from their parents, Ilhan Omar has repeatedly claimed that she ‘derived’ citizenship through her father as a minor at the age of 17. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) does not allow records requests to be processed for a living foreign-born person without their permission. However, the USCIS will process a record request for a deceased foreign-born person. Since Ilhan Omar’s father passed away in 2020, AJ Kerm submitted the request to the USCIS in June 2022, for her father’s records and she received a response on June 20, 2023. It turns out that the USCIS has no record of her father being a naturalized US citizen. Therefore, this is probably why the Biden Administration’s Justice Department launched an investigation into Ilhan Omar in June 2024, and why a Democrat judge signed off on a search for Ilhan Omar’s home. Of course, CNN, MSNBC, and Democratic politicians will never mention any of this because it does not fit their narrative. https://t.co/GZg0iw5QDM

If that’s the case, then Omar wouldn’t even have fraudulently derived U.S. citizenship,

And that leaves us with an unprecedented situation — an illegally present refugee with no right to be here, somehow managed to claim U.S. citizenship, and then ran for and won public office, in a district where many of her voters are likely non-citizen voters.

Imagine the giggling going on among the warlords and pirates of Somalia, to have one of their own actually running the United States of America, lording it over that detested superpower’s naive citizens. Russia could never top that one, and China, Mexico, Iran and Cuba with their various agent operations only marginally so.

It also explains Omar’s raw third-world straight-out-of-a-V.S. Naipaul-book-style of anti-American confusion and resentment, as well as her congenital migrant ingratitude, if she is literally a citizen of another country. It explains her antisemitism, which is common and rampant in third world hellholes.

If she hates this country because she loves another, everything suddenly makes sense.

She’s even said her loyalties rested with Somalia first, not America.

According to House Majority Whip Tom Emmer:

‘No sitting member of Congress should be able to blatantly spew anti-American rhetoric and get away with it. I am demanding an ethics investigation into Ilhan Omar’s appalling, Somalia-first comments to ensure that she starts taking her oath of office and commitment to the 5th district of Minnesota seriously,’ said Emmer, a fellow Minnesotan, in a statement.

Emmer has called on the Somali-born progressive to resign over her remarks.

The clip shared by Somaliland Ambassador Rhoda Elmi, who called them ‘unbecoming’ and ‘lacking in common decency.’

Somaliland is an unrecognized state that Somalia views as its own territory.

Omar, the first Somali-American in Congress, said in the clip she would do everything in her power to prevent the disputed, breakaway territory from entering a sea-access deal with Ethiopia.

‘Sleep in comfort knowing I am here to protect the interest of Somalia from inside the U.S. system,’ Omar said, according to the widely-shared, translated version of the video.

Omar reportedly said in her speech that ‘the US government will only do what Somalians in the U.S. tell them to do. They will do what we want and nothing else.’

‘They must follow our orders and that is how we will safeguard the interest of Somalia,’ she adds. ‘We Somalians must have the confidence in ourselves that we call the shots in the U.S.’

‘Together we will protect the interests of Somalia.’

Does that sound like the kind of talk a U.S. citizen, native or naturalized, would make? She claims a mistranslation, but I haven’t heard an other Somalis say it was a mistranslation.

Now she claims the Trump administration is trying to ‘silence’ her with this investigation, which doesn’t even include the allegation that she married her brother, or the other allegation that she somehow got hold of $30 million based on her financial declarations, and suddenly didn’t have it. She’s clearly oblivious to the reality that yeah, if she’s not a U.S. citizen and has no loyalty to this country, she really doesn’t merit a congressional soapbox, or any soapbox at all anywhere in the U.S. She can be as noisy as she likes, outside U.S. borders in her true homeland. She puts on the act though, with “I will not be silenced.”

Maybe she should be if these allegations are true. Since this involves political power, she’s obviously going to try to wriggle out of them, claim ignorance, use various statutes of limitations, go for delays, or rely on a pardon from a future Democrat president so she can come back and operate as usual.

She’s made herself scarce now, and has only out out one statement denouncing the raid as political.

But it’s not political — the warrant was signed off on by a leftwing judge and the investigation began under the Biden administration.

If true, the bottom line here is that a non-U.S. citizen is occupying a position of power over U.S. citizens and every last one of her votes, and all the people she is responsible for bringing over to the states must be scrutinized and if problematic, thrown out. Noncitizens don’t have the same power as citizens and this goes back to the American Revolution fought to kick out colonial masters. This looks like a new form of colonialism, grown from the victims-as-heroes premise, and thoroughly detrimental to our republic.

I hope the Trump administration can act swiftly on this because noncitizens do not belong anywhere near the voting lever in Congress. If that’s what she is, then this is quite a scandal.
