Will the Left ever give up their efforts to ban religion from every aspect of our culture? They continue to manipulate the Constitution’s meaning of the Establishment Clause, which prohibits our government from establishing a state religion (but they believe it prevents any allusion to religion at all), and continually violate the Free Exercise Clause, insisting that their radical approaches are the fairest way to prohibit religious practice from being followed in the marketplace.

Their latest effort comes from Colorado, which has become notorious for torturing religious communities by narrowing the practice of religion. Now, pre-schools are being targeted as the state attacks St. Mary Catholic Parish for including conventional Catholic teachings in its preschool classrooms and refusing to offer curriculum that includes irreligious content on marriage and sexuality. The $6,000 per child payment was stopped because the school maintained that if a non-Catholic child attended, he or she would be expected to participate in religious activities. Losing that benefit has likely caused a hardship for many families.

The state essentially wants to stop any religious practices from being practiced outside the church’s doors. This approach would mean the following:

It demands secularization of religion itself, and of religious people. The nuns may care for the elderly and infirm, but they should also be willing to assist in their suicide. The Catholic preschool may teach four-year-olds, but it must ‘get with the times’ on sex and gender. Charity is welcome so long as religion is nowhere near it. That is not neutrality. It is hostility.

Many people may not be aware (or simply don’t care) about the role that the Catholic preschools play in the upbringing of children:

It provides their family with a community formed by faith—where religious instruction, prayer, and formation are integrated into the curriculum, and where parents can entrust their children to educators who reinforce, rather than undermine, their religious beliefs. This is precisely what the Archdiocese of Denver’s schools have provided for decades: academic rigor coupled with moral and spiritual formation, in close partnership with parents. To maintain this faith-filled community, the Archdiocese’s schools ask that all families who attend display a positive and supportive attitude toward the Catholic Church, its teachings, and the religious mission of Catholic schools. Any family willing to do this is welcome.

If parents don’t want their children exposed to Catholic teachings, they can send them to any public preschool and receive a $6,000 allowance.

Today, we must support religious institutions, which our Constitution’s Free Exercise clause protects by prohibiting government interference with religious teaching in schools.

We celebrate that our Founders, mostly religious men, recognized and insisted that we honor our Judeo-Christian roots and raise our children to appreciate them, too.

Every time any state takes these kinds of actions against our children, especially the youngest ones, they are imposing a secular agenda.
