We find ourselves in a Bizarro World reality, where every effort by President Trump to secure America’s national security and to protect Americans from crime is ignored or attacked, and certainly underappreciated. Oddly, even congressional Republicans aren’t touting those momentous accomplishments as much as they should.

Certainly, Democrats and their media propaganda arm are not only suppressing those necessary and unprecedented benefits for America and Americans but are relentlessly ridiculing them. Our closed borders, which were supposed to be impossible absent “comprehensive immigration reform,” but happened virtually overnight, the nearly half-century overdue foiling of Iran’s terrorism and nuclear threat, and most recently, Trump’s Greenland agreement are perhaps the most obvious examples.

Trump’s early commentary about making Greenland part of America was classic Trump deal-making. He announced seemingly outlandish demands, only to negotiate down from that, quietly and behind the scenes, to get exactly what he wanted and America needed. His critics ignored the very real threat of our sworn enemies in that part of the world, and the very real geographic role Greenland must play in our missile defense, so debilitated by Trump Derangement Syndrome are they.

Well, Trump got the deal we need, and it’s everything critics said was impossible, even immoral. The full text is here. At Powerline, John Hinderaker provides a summary:

*The US secured a permanent military foothold that even an independent Greenland would inherit whether it likes it or not
*The US now has veto power over any non-NATO military presence in Greenland, and over who can invest in its strategic infrastructure and resources (beyond NATO and the EU)
*Denmark signed away its say over the principle of new US bases, with only the right to discuss the “implementation details”
*Danish authorities no longer set the rules for US military movement across the island
*And all of it is now justified by the defense of “the American continent”

Despite its protestations and threats to put troops on Greenland to repel an imminent US invasion that was never coming, the Danes clearly understood they couldn’t effectively protect Greenland, to say nothing of repelling a US, or any real enemy invasion.

The new, permanent agreement gives us far more than the 1951 agreement did. We now can build two additional bases, and more as necessary, and troops and equipment are on the way. We also get unlimited access:

“the United States of America shall enjoy… the right of free access to and movement between the Defense Areas through Greenland, including the Territorial Waters, by land, air and sea.”

That means land, air, and sea, on the water and by submarine, which the earlier agreement didn’t allow.

We now have a permanent veto over the presence of “non-NATO states” on Greenland. And there is this:

The 1951 agreement existed only “for the benefit of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.” The new one lists the defense of “the American continent” as an objective, celebrates “the irreplaceable role” of the United States military as well as “the United States’ indispensable historical and ongoing contributions to the security and defense of Greenland,” and names the establishment of Trump’s “Golden Dome” missile defense system as a key goal.

Yes, the preamble of the agreement affirms “Danish sovereignty,” yet it’s focused on American interests, not NATO’s, in concert with protecting Greenland and Danish interests, which Denmark lacks the military might to enforce. Denmark retains ostensible sovereignty, but we can go anywhere and do pretty much anything, and all the while, Greenland and Denmark will benefit from our investments and the economic growth and prosperity our presence will provide.

And the best part is Trump and Secretary of State Rubio got everything we want and need, which every POTUS for more than a century acknowledged and claimed to want, but did little or nothing to obtain. And Greenland and Denmark will greatly benefit too.

That has Democrats and their media propagandists red-faced with rage. They’ve dealt with it by initially lying about the agreement, but upon its full publication, have largely shut up. Foolishly, Congressional Republicans have mostly done the same.

We can be certain that future Democrat—Communist—administrations will squander this historic accomplishment, but for now, it’s another one added to a growing list that makes America, and the world, safer.
