Brutus was a member of the Roman Senate’s “deep state.”

Every faction spawns fanatics who, to their peril, see only the facts that justify their zealotry. For today, here and now, we are being reminded again that the Dem’s deep state is real, embraced by real people concentrated in real places. One of those places is Montgomery County, Maryland, MoCo, a suburb of Washington, DC.

This post will connect the actions of little MoCo to the large deep state that Senator Chuck Grassley is trying to rescue us from; this past week Senator Grassley warned us, again:

“For almost a decade now, I’ve made records public showing how a number of now discredited law enforcement and intelligence officials schemed to take out Trump and other Republicans. And here we are in 2026 still finding records from years ago showing even more evidence of that targeting. The overall sustained efforts by the deep state in the dark corners of the bureaucracy is worse than anything Trump has been accused of.”

The Senator gave this warning of what has become of the US of A in last week’s Senate oversight questioning of Kash Patel during which, when it was Senator Corey Booker’s turn he launched a blitz of soundbites to give his media enablers plenty of headline material to let them continue to ignore Senator Grassley’s clear warning statement that summarized the Democrat Party’s willingness to do whatever it takes to conquer and re-write our government of the people, by the people and for the people into a government that controls from womb to tomb all the people all the time and whose tax power will become this: all you make and possess belongs to the government.

Meanwhile, in this same week gone by, in Montgomery County Maryland, one of the provinces of the new-new Left, AKA The Democrat Party, AKA the deep state, introduced a bill in the County Council “to improve the governance structure of an organization that gets the majority of its funding from the county government” or as Ceoli Jacoby, in Bethesda Today, headlined it, “County Council proposal sparks press freedom concerns.”

From the bill itself:

Bill 33-26 would:

“(1) require a community media organization that contracts with the County to adopt a racial equity and social justice statement;

(2) require a community media organization that contracts with the County to include certain membership on the organization’s board of directors;

(3) require a community media organization that contracts with the County to follow certain standards of public ethics and public access; and

In MoCo politics, note that you must always have a Climate Assessment no matter what.

The weather is changeable. In the realm of propaganda-driven issue politics, we really must pay homage to the devious cleverness of the left to turn just plain Mother Nature into a perpetual crisis to justify multiple layers of money-making graft opportunities for those in cahoots with government programs for “our own good.” But back to the primary point:

In MoCo, this bill’s introduction has sparked, hard to believe, a revolt within the left itself.

Montgomery Community Media, one of the entities that the bill would impact, is led by Jasmine White, who, willing to risk the consequences of pushing back, told Ceoli Jacoby, “People already make assumptions that MCM is a government agency, and that is not true,” White said. “I don’t know that the organization could ask the public to trust that the work we do is actually independent if we have a council person on our board or an appointee from the county executive’s office.”

This political battle has a hint of the old caution that the children of the revolution will be devoured by the revolution. Another historical echo: power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely. MoCo overreach?

Let me close echoing what others are saying now: Vote as if your life depended on it. The left is on the march throughout the US of A and we cannot afford to wait for it to eventually self-destruct from within. By that time all liberty and actual justice will be smashed.
