Even the most rabid feminists made no effort, following the Lindsay Clancy trial, to claim a double standard in the way men are treated for the same crime. They didn’t claim that because it would have been too stupid even for them.

Fathers murder their children only rarely. When they do, it’s usually to spite the mother. Child murders due to psychotic breaks are even rarer. The last one of note occurred in Ohio in 2023, when Chad Doerman, a mutt only a rung or two up the ladder from white trash, shot his entire family – three sons, a daughter, and his wife. The wife and daughter survived. The boys all died.

Doerman had attended church earlier that day and somehow got it into his head that God demanded a sacrifice from him. For several hours he wandered around the house, Bible in one hand, muttering “Chad knows what’s right.” It’s really too bad that the government didn’t ensure that poor Chad got the help he needed, isn’t it?

It’s also too bad that Chad didn’t bother to open the book he held in his hand to learn what it said about human sacrifice.  Namely, that God Almighty sent an angel to prevent Abraham from sacrificing his son, implicitly forbidding such practices from then on.

Doerman is a particularly repellent killer, thanks to the theatricality he indulged in after the murders. He attempted to play indignant homeowner when the police arrived, sitting on his stoop with his rifle after running down and shooting his oldest son. The cops weren’t having any, slamming him to the ground when he attempted to resist.

While being arraigned, he switched to a tormented stoicism schtick, working his jaw and letting out little whimpers and half-sobs.

It all served him naught. The trial proceeded in good order, with nobody dragging in nonsense ideology, nobody interfering with the jurors, and nobody insisting that Chad deserved a second chance. After an insanity plea failed to gain traction, Doerman pled guilty on August 2, 2024 to avoid a possible death penalty, and was sentenced to three life sentences without possibility of parole. He is being brutalized by his convict brethren as you read this.

Clearly, if a “double standard” exists, it is in the legal treatment of female murderers. Making the same suggestions as those of Clancy’s trial on behalf of Doerman would have been considered comedy of the blackest variety. Doerman got what was coming to him with little or no absurdity or foolishness. It would be nice to think that Lindsay Clancy will get the same.
