What we see is the bottom of the barrel of political talent available to the Democrat party. Politics, especially in a major-league democracy, is supposed to be a serious business — not a clown show. Joseph R. Biden is no exception. Being in politics his whole adult life, he is the quintessential professional empty suit. Always a dimwit, his advancing age has enhanced the obviousness of this condition. His wife’s dubious claim that she thought he suffered a stroke during his last debate brings to mind the last year and half of Woodrow Wilson’s presidency, in which he suffered a debilitating stroke that was kept secret while his semi-literate wife forged his signature when needed.

Recent clown show recruits include “Beto” O’Rourke and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez… both of whom have served in Congress. More recent still is Zohran Mamdani, a full-throated antisemite serving as mayor of the American city with the most Jews. And recently stricken from the roster of clowns is Eric Swalwell, who undid his political career by running for governor of California, thus compelling the exposure of his record as a serial sexual predator. Meanwhile, waiting in line to join the Democrat menagerie is James Talarico, who makes the other clowns almost seem normal by comparison.
Now, herein lies the rub. In politics, as in ordinary commerce, is something called branding: establishing the uniqueness of who you are and what you’re selling… hopefully in a positive light. Nowadays, branding is not going well for the Democrats. The clown-show perception is taking root, and this trend is being reinforced by the increasing clownishness of the new recruits.
Why is this happening? I theorize the tipping point may have been the Obama presidency. Now, he’s hardly a clown… but he did reveal, at least, some serious weaknesses. First off, he has deficient, or shall I say biased, knowledge of history — as evidenced by his well-covered speech in Cairo. His misrepresentations are well in line with his anti-Zionist ideology. And, speaking of ideology, Obama opened the door for a major leftward shift in the Democrat party, which has since let in a lot of political riffraff.

Meanwhile, the Republican barrel is brimming over with world-class talent. Both Vance and Rubio have gotten some extremely valuable exposure and are both quite young… so they have fairly long careers ahead of them. Another rising star, from out of the blue, is the Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt. Should he succeed in his current quest, he will continue to draw considerable attention and display his exceptional communication skills. Ironically, he’s following a very similar path to that of Donald Trump: political novice with a major reality TV identity. He, however, has yet to accumulate several billion dollars of personal wealth.
Waiting in the incubator is White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt. She wasted no time in demonstrating her phenomenal ability to think on her feet and manage her message. She is, however, a mere child and won’t be old enough to lead the ticket for another seven years. Meanwhile, she is doing a fantastic job (once she returns from maternity leave) in dealing with an extremely hostile media.
