Let me tell you about Simon & Garfunkel. They had a great run back in the 1960s and broke up after “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” Paul and Art had some solo hits but not much lately. My last Garfunkel cassette was from the early 1980’s. Memories, yes; recent success, not much.

So, Art has decided that he needs to make a political statement. About what? Well, it turns out that (shock, shock, shock) Art does not like Trump. In fact, he is worried about Trump as we hear in this interview:

Simon and Garfunkel singer Art Garfunkel says he is seriously considering leaving the U.S. because of the Trump presidency.
The 84-year-old singer made the remarks during an interview with The Guardian after being asked about climate change and those currently in power.
“I don’t like America’s position at all,” Garfunkel said.
He then went further, saying he has considered leaving the country altogether.
“I’m not aboard, and I’m thinking of leaving the country, frankly,” he said. “It’s real that the planet is getting warmer, that the water’s rising, that so many people are starving.”
Garfunkel also attacked Trump over Venezuela, questioning the president’s intervention in the country.

“When Donald Trump took over Venezuela, are those the new rules? Just take over a country and run it?” Garfunkel said.
“It’s shocking, and you think: how on earth are we gonna change the presidency?”
Well, Art, I’m sorry that you are so worried. The best way to change things is to stay home and get involved. Have you thought about that?
We wish Art the best. I assume that he will continue to receive his royalties and live wherever he goes. At the same time, please forgive me for thinking that Art is another hysterical, aging star—he’s 84–looking to put himself back in the public conversation.
Does anyone care what Art Garfunkel thinks about anything? My guess is that most fans (like me) will say “good luck,” and I hope he finds whatever he’s looking for.
