The consensus seems to be that the Wisconsin Democrat primary race this week, in which the strange Francesca Hong, the already coronated frontrunner (polls had her up twenty points or more), was squeezed out of a victory by little-known local official David Crowley, was actually decided by tried-and-true 2020 means.

Hong’s ship was torpedoed by a last-minute appearance of large numbers of “John Q. Smith, 2323 Mockingbird Lane, Anytown, Wisconsin” ballots appearing out of hyperspace (after – this will sound familiar — a “human error” delayed the count) long after the polls had closed, exactly as occurred in the wee hours of Nov. 4, 2020.
The problem for the Dems was that Hong, with her “Shadow Over Innsmouth” demeanor and long trail of statements calling for the dissolution of the police, the banning of Thanksgiving, the abolition of whiteness, and the assassination of President Trump, was the farthest thing in the world from a winning candidate.
Fortunately, the Democrats have alternatives for exactly this type of situation, which a number of commentators believe they put into effect on Tuesday night, resulting in Crowley, who was not even vaguely considered a contender during the actual campaign, winning by less than half a point. Crowley’s chief qualification for office appears to be that he has been a Democrat for a while, and has waited patiently for his turn.
Clearly, the Dems have become wary of the large collection of left-wing grotesques who are riding under their banner. The procedure they’ve previously used to get these types elected, which involved slipping them in here and there among ordinary inconsequential Democrat candidates, worked well enough, but it simply evaporates when they start running in large numbers and normally somnolent Dem voters awaken to the fact that they’re not much like anybody else they’ve ever voted for. Particularly if they’ve taken to echoing net demagogues like Hasan Piker. So Francesca was made to walk the plank.

But, as is often the case with the Democrats these days, solving one problem simply creates a new one. The Dems had no problem pulling this kind of thing with the GOP, which is inured to taking its beatings and keeping its mouth shut. But the DSA is another matter. Those kids fancy themselves as red-blooded revos in the Lenin/Mao mode, while at the same time they view the Dems as no more than another pack of bourgeois to be used and thrown away. They know how the scam was pulled and who pulled it, and are unlikely to take it lying down. These, after all, are the people who gave us the “Summer of Love.”
What’s that you say? “No proof?” That doesn’t matter. The Dems have a reputation for cheating so pervasive (particularly in Wisconsin, which has a long record of pulling tricks such as registering non-local college students) that anything that even looks like it is going to set people off.
Which is exactly what will happen here. The fact that it involves other lefties is sweet in itself. That’s called “irony,” and the Dems had better get used to it. They’ll be seeing plenty of it in days to come.
