On their home page: “Capitalism is a system designed by the owning class to exploit the rest of us for their own profit. We must replace it with democratic socialism, a system where ordinary people have a real voice in our workplaces, neighborhoods, and society.” Looks like heavy duty, no-fooling Marxist-Leninist socialism.
Let us look back at history for possible potentialities. The Russian Revolution of 1917, a manifestation of socialist theory, was preceded by much proselytizing and publicizing and exhorting. Vladimir Lenin himself sought to reassure people that his fellow revolutionaries were tolerant of religions, writing in 1905,
That is the reason why we do not and should not set forth our atheism in our Programme; that is why we do not and should not prohibit proletarians who still retain vestiges of their old prejudices from associating themselves with our Party. We shall always preach the scientific world-outlook, and it is essential for us to combat the inconsistency of various ‘Christians.’ But that does not mean in the least that the religious question ought to be advanced to first place, where it does not belong at all; nor does it mean that we should allow the forces of the really revolutionary economic and political struggle to be split up on account of third-rate opinions or senseless ideas, rapidly losing all political importance, rapidly being swept out as rubbish by the very course of economic development.
Nonetheless, by 1918, the Russian Orthodox Church was disestablished, its properties were seized and converted into facilities for only the proletariat, and the tsar and his family were murdered. In that new creation of revolution, there came to be revealed very little semblance of toleration for religion.

Just a few years later, in 1929, many U.S. newspapers reported a conference held in Moscow, USSR by the Congress of the Society of the Godless. The Evening Star, then a prominent newspaper in Washington, D.C., quoted an editorial about the conference published in the USSR’s official newspaper, Pravda: “There are millions of religious believers and only thousands of the godless, but we shall uproot religion and destroy its influences with the masses.”
In 1931, Stalin ordered the dynamiting of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior to build the Palace of the Soviets, but WW2 prevented the Palace’s completion. After that war, the water-filled foundation was converted into what was named the Moskva Pool.
After the disintegration of the USSR, due to socialism’s inherent self-destroying disregard of elementary economic axioms, the yet again new Russia rebuilt the cathedral the Soviets had maliciously destroyed.
If someday, here in America, we find ourselves stripped of our right to practice our religions, will any of our liberties afterward ever be restored? Or will they all be gone forever?
