According to U.S. News & World Report’s most recent medical school rankings, the University of California, San Francisco (“UCSF”) is a Tier 1 medical school for both research and primary care. If that’s the case, all of us need to be afraid, because UCSF’s chancellor just revealed that he believes men can get pregnant.

When I was growing up and still living in San Francisco, I knew UCSF was a premier institution. As a child in the 1970s, we had family friends affiliated with it, and as an adult, I received medical treatment there and had close friends who were students and graduates.

Back then, it was an institution that was justly famous for the quality of its students, faculty, medical training, and medical care. It was undoubtedly one of the best of the best in America, for it was rigorously focused on scientific facts and the scientific process. While there was always a political edge to its functioning, as is the case with any major institution, it was a meritocratic medical school, research facility, and hospital.

However, by the mid-1990s, things were changing. I knew from those of my friends who worked there that a toxic, anti-male, anti-white mentality was beginning to invade the institution. Highly qualified white men were being passed over for positions there in favor of manifestly less qualified minorities and women, and it was beginning to be a hostile work environment for the men already there.

That was then. Now, we’ve transitioned to an in-your-face craziness that should terrify anyone who believes that medical training and care in America are based in science and that the people affiliated with these institutions are the best of the best.

The current UCSF Chancellor is a man named Sam Hawgood, who’s occupied that position for 12 years. Hawgood, a white man, has been working in UCSF’s administration for almost two decades, whether as a pediatric department chair, associate director of the Cardiovascular Research Institute, dean of the Medical School, Vice Chancellor for Medical Affairs, or the UCSF Chancellor.

The one thing you must understand about all those roles is that they are highly political. Moreover, because Hawgood is in academia, his workplace has been as completely infected with woke concepts (DEI, CRT, LGBTQ+, etc.) as any other educational institution in America. In other words, Hawgood is an old white man occupying a political seat in a leftist institution. He’s been riding the woke tiger for decades, hoping not to get eaten.

That reality—the tiger he’s riding—explains why this man, with a boatload of scientific degrees and a career spent in the scientific world, has completely abandoned the most basic scientific premise about human beings. That premise, for those still living in the real world, is that humans have two sexes, based on two different chromosome pairings: XX and XY.

The XX people presumptively have eggs and, when those eggs are fertilized, can gestate a baby. The XY people have the presumptive ability to provide the seed for that egg.

That’s the baseline difference between the sexes, and as a neonatologist and pediatrician, Hawgood has seen it in action a zillion times. He also knows that the XX people are called women and the XY people are called men, and have been for the entirety of human history.

But cowed into submission by wokism, this craven man, who will apparently embrace any radical ideology to maintain his august role, essentially told the United States House of Representatives that XY people, aka men, can have babies:

I can’t believe this is real.

The Chancellor of UC San Francisco testified under oath that a “vast majority of pregnancies are in women.” Implying some pregnancies occur in men.

When asked directly whether a non-biological woman has ever had a baby, he refused to answer. This… pic.twitter.com/mNk8f1eCDa

Hawgood: Of course, the vast majority of pregnancies are in women, and I have absolutely no problem with using the word pregnant women. I use it myself.

Rep. Miller: Has a non-biological woman ever had a baby?

Hawgood: A transgender person can.

Rep. Miller: That’s not a biological woman. Has a non-biological woman ever had a baby?

Hawgood: I would reiterate, we take care—

Rep. Miller: No, it’s ridiculous.

I am 99.999% certain Hawgood doesn’t believe the unscientific tripe he’s asserting. This is a craven man clinging to his job security and reputation in an academic world gone mad.

And as for the rest of us, given that we are being treated by the products of this mad world, it’s time for us to get very worried.
