This is going to be painful. But, it’s time for a cards-on-the-table tough talk before it’s too late.

Many headlines indicate that President Trump may not finish the job in Iran. A deal that does not remove enriched uranium from Iran—even though it ensures free movement of cargo ships through the Hormuz Strait—is de facto surrender to Iran’s ayatollah.

President Trump may have some plan he thinks will render such an outcome a non-disaster. He is wrong if he thinks this.

Yes, Trump is our MAGA leader. Yes, we love and respect him. But, he undermines our loyalty and devotion if he breaks his unwritten deal with the MAGA nation.

The president needs to remember that he did not create the MAGA movement. He discovered  us early in his first campaign when he learned he could win our support by addressing our concerns about unlimited migrants invading America. Trump gradually broadened that to include the core conservative issues and factions.

Even our present MAGA label, first used by President Reagan, was a discovery of Trump’s that went through several versions—before settling on Make America Great Again.

Trump has done a fantastic political job of collecting conservative Americans disgusted with Democrats’ socialistic, un-American, perverted, riotous mobocracy into a MAGA movement on the verge of political dominance. Whatever happens, we owe him a huge thank you for his brilliant MAGA leadership.

But, to review reality Mr. President, we existed before he discovered our potential. From the Nixon and Reagan years we developed from the “silent majority” through the Tea Party into an angry opponent of the Democrats’ social engineering.

Our core conservative values existed before Trump ran for office. They will continue after Trump is gone. Our cultural warfare with perverted leftists continues until one of us is defeated.

President Trump needs to understand what will likely happen if his Iranian deal has even an appearance of coddling Iran’s terroristic mullahs.

First, MAGA’s non-isolationists and Christian conservatives will see this as a huge victory for Islam over a mostly Christian United States and Western Civilization. Fewer will turn out to vote with Trump if he backs off “Fight, Fight” for them. Trump can kiss goodbye to any hopes of retaining a GOP majority in the House and Senate in November voting.

Second, enemy and allied nations will realize Trump is a talky paper tiger that can be intimidated into retreat by opponents willing to suffer the damage until he gives in. China, Russia, North Korea, and various Islamic nations will be encouraged to stomp all over our red lines, knowing the USA only stomps utter weaklings like Venezuela.

Third, Trump’s remaining presidency will become a shambolic parade of conservative retreats and defeats. The chances of any MAGA candidate winning the presidency in 2028 vanishes. The odds of Democrats controlling the presidency and Congress for eight years or more skyrockets.

This is the inevitable outcome for a movement betrayed by its leader.

I hope the “good deal” for Iran is a nightmare that never comes true. I hope Trump proves to be all that we hope he is. Inflicting a decisive defeat on Iran’s mullahs is much more likely to produce a bright American future than letting the mullahs snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

Mr. President, it’s your choice. My only advice is to not overestimate your hold on MAGA conservatives to support anything you do.

We are, after all, the voters most likely to think for themselves. And you’ve now got us thinking hard and furiously.
