In October 1806, in the small German university town of Jena, the philosopher G.W.F. Hegel witnessed Napoleon Bonaparte on horseback passing in the street. Napoleon’s French armies had just destroyed the Prussian military, and he was on his way to Berlin as conqueror.

Hegel said he saw history on horseback. He called Napoleon “the soul of the world,” by which he meant Napoleon was the unconscious embodiment and the manifestation of the “Spirit” of historical progress — the man Fate had chosen to usher in a new age. For Hegel, Napoleon destroyed the old age of the aristocracy and ushered in the new one of nation states.
The political environment in the West today is similarly febrile. We do not see a man on a white horse, but we do see nascent movements in the United Kingdom and Europe that reflect the one in the United States that elected President Donald Trump. They reject the immigration policies of their governments. In America, Britian, and Europe, the transition is happening from the old globalist age to the new nationalist age.
The old age was defined by deliberate and sustained mass migration into the West. For years, the British and European Union governments have allowed tens of millions of mostly young men into their countries. In America, the Biden administration encouraged and accelerated the immigration of many tens of millions of people in four years. Years of immigration have transformed America, Australia, Britain, Canada, and Europe. Their cities and identities have come under deliberate assault. Mass immigration brought violent crime, including murder and rape, weakened the fabric of these high-trust societies, and stole the birthright of their citizens. Fundamentally, it advanced the dissolution of these countries and of Western civilization.
The results of mass migration are found daily in appalling news. The terrible murders of Jocelyn Nungaray and Laken Riley; the sickening Southport murders, where three young girls at a dance studio were stabbed over two hundred times; the murder of a Polish doctoral student, identified as Klaudia K., in Torun; the Bondi Beach Hanukkah celebration attack; the Scottish girl called “Sophie of Dundee,” who was shown on social media holding a knife and an axe to defend herself from migrants; the murder of Henry Novak in Southampton; and the attempted beheading attack by a Sudanese national in Belfast are a ghastly cavalcade of events. One wonders what tomorrow or next week will bring. The British, European, Canadian, and Australian elites ignored all monitory messages from their peoples. The American elites did so before President Trump stopped President Joe Biden’s open-border policies.
After each monstrous attack, the elites mouthed the typical mummery: The attack was “tragic,” and our “thoughts are with the victims,” but we cannot let the latest horror stop immigration. Nothing can stop immigration, ever.
In fact, it must be accelerated. On January 27, 2026, president of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and Indian prime minister Narendra Modi announced a new free trade agreement. This includes an India-E.U. Comprehensive Framework of Cooperation on Mobility. This mobility agreement “will ease movement” from India to E.U. members for highly skilled workers, students, researchers, and seasonal workers. It also contains the first E.U. Legal Gateway Office in India, to add rocket fuel to the population movement from India to the E.U.
Though it has not received much attention in America, it should, because the E.U. just murdered the West. It has opened the doors of Europe to what is sure to be tens of millions of Indians. We have seen this before. In 2015, and in direct violation of the E.U.’s Dublin Regulation, German chancellor Angela Merkel opened Germany’s, and Europe’s, borders to mass migration. Wir schaffen das — “We can manage this,” she said at the time. Over ten years later, she is a reviled figure for Germans and other Europeans who must navigate the consequences of her decision.
That is bad enough, but it gets worse. On June 12, 2026, the E.U. Pact on Migration and Asylum took effect. It promises cooperation and tougher action on deportations, which no one believes will happen. What everyone does believe is that it requires every E.U. state, every year, to take migrants from E.U. states “under migratory pressure,” like the fiercely pro-migrant Socialist government in Spain, or pay about 21,000 euros per person. Rather than stopping migrants, it will redistribute them throughout the E.U., mostly from Spain, France, Germany, and Greece. That yearly quota of immigrants clearly targets Hungary and Poland, states that so far have refused to take immigrants. Hungary’s new leader, Peter Magyar, is expected to reverse the steadfast refusal of his predecessor, Viktor Orbán, to accept them.

Moreover, as the United States cracks down on current and future H-1B visa holders and applicants, Britian and the E.U., especially Ireland, will receive more migrants from India. India has the largest surplus of young, educated, English-speaking professionals on Earth. Modi’s demand of the E.U. was that they be allowed to move into Europe. This will rapidly eliminate the employment of native Irish in information technology and professional positions — all done with the approval of the Irish government. Already, India is Ireland’s single largest source of non-E.U. labor migration driven by aggressive international student recruitment, and because Ireland is a gateway to the United Kingdom and the wider E.U. economy.
The new age is defined by a renaissance of populist nationalism. Western populations have witnessed the consequences of mass immigration for their countries, so they reject it. Most importantly, they know that their elites have betrayed them. The elites broke the social contract that exists between the people and their government, which is the foundation of legitimate rule. People know that the elites — the universities, media, the billionaires, and the Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) they fund — define the old regime. Hence, they reject their elites and their leadership, their media, the thought at their universities, and their priorities. Over decades, the elites took sledgehammer blows to their countries. Now the people see the damage and know they must repair it or lose their nations forever.
Western peoples want a return to nationalist government. They want their countries and their birthright restored. They want a new elite, a fair economy, honest media. They want remigration. They want an educational system, media, and popular culture that support the country. They want the political elite to support their nations and to focus on the problems of their countries, rather than globalist chimeras and the adoption of intentionally self-destructive policies. In the United Kingdom, the “Raise the Colours” movement, and Tommy Robinson’s “Unite the Kingdom” patriotic rallies are great symbols of the new age. On the continent, the remigration movement is, too.
The old age won’t give up without a fight. It is increasingly coercive, imprisoning citizens for their social media postings while laboring to ban the social media platform X, the only major one left for free expression. Most importantly, there is a race between the old age’s efforts to import a new population by the tens of millions and the new age’s effort to halt and reverse migration.
Winning that race will be helped by the development of tools and networks. This includes an organization that can coordinate not only within countries, but among them to formulate the hard-won responses and share lessons learned and the fruits of experience.
Whereas Napoleon swept away the old age with brilliant military victories, the supporters of the new age must become modern Napoleons in political warfare to sweep away the detritus of the old. That is a formidable task and will define the years to come. As Russian revolutionary Leon Trotsky first said, and American author and journalist Whittaker Chambers echoed, “anybody looking for a quiet life has picked the wrong century to be born in.” That is as true of the twenty-first century as it was of the last.
